well, I have problems with the intel3945 wireless card
connection strength, I have very low signal strenght connection to by router (but perfect when tested with a loos USB wireless card) , and when I removed backcover (of course I cant resist to open up a computer) there was three coaxial cables in the computer. none connected to anything.

two black ones and one grey.

I make the following educated guesses:

the grey cable is longer, and is actually extended to the "space" where I would fit an bluetooth card(which I dont have) , judging from pics in reviews etc.

that leaves the two black cables to be connected to the two connectors on the intel card? (it has the possibility to use two antennas for better connection)

Am I not totally lost here?

unfortunately I have not seen any pictures of the intelcard with cables or so...

there is not really much that can go wrong with this.

ps . typicall chinese quality controll. Here I spend thousands of dollars on a computer and they forget to attach the cables...

    you got 2 options:

    1) call for support to ask which wires go where.

    -OR-

To boost the performance of a Wireless Module (usually with Intel)
    1) you should go to Control Panel
    2) go to Network Connections
    3) open Wireless Network Connection and hit the Properties button
    4) (you should be in the Wireless Network Connection windows), Click the Configure button
    5) (you should be in a new window) go to the Advanced tab
    6) under the Property section, scroll down and look for Power Management
    7) (as you can see it defaults at Lowest) UNCHECK the "Use default" option, and change it to Highest (for max performance)
    8) hit OK and OK.

    Thats it.

You should notice an increase of wifi performance, both in speed and range.

NOTE: open the pane to physically look at the Wireless Module, there should be 2 wires connected (ANT and AUX) to the module to have optimal performance and range. If even one is loose or not connected, your wifi will not function well.

    Hope that helps,
    -Gophn

    problem solved.
All you mention Gophn , I have already tried to no avail.

I mailed company, got reply quickly.

Grey is for bluetooth (Blåtand in Swedish, named after a king who was not a very nice guy :) )

black one , which was in right compartment (seen when laptop is upside down , cover removed) is for tv tuner module. connected to outlet on back of laptop
(this was not confirmed, but it is my educated guess as there is such an outlet on the back, intended for external antennas)

Finally, central compartment, black two is for module. I atached it to the connector marked main on wlan card.

Voila! Maximum signal strength. No problems whatsoever connecting.

Crappy quality control, but I forgive them for even if I didnt order it, there was a webcam in the computer. Just downloaded drivers and I had a bonus...

considering all the troubles I had with this comp (remember, I had problems with power supply aswell ) I think I deserve it.

    Anyhow, thanks for the help.

BTW I am more than satisified with the computer. It absolutely ROX!

Also, considering there is an antenna cable with coaxial connector in the back, wired to the area of the wland card (or nearby), maybe this opens upp possibilites for attaching an external antenna to the computer for extended range, using the built in wlan card???

Especially considering that current Express card wlan cards are hard to find and expensive, another option for more power and range for wlan?

    makes me thinking :) ....

Actually, the TV jack in the back of the computer is for use with the optional mini-PCI TV tuner card.
