I recently purchased or should say I am in the process of purchasing a Sager NP5792. I know very little about computer .. actually less than a little. I am currently deployed to Iraq as a recon scout (19 D) so i don't have alot of time to play games at the FOB. Anyways the time I do have i would like to play on something reliable, and i didn't want to pay for a mainstream name like dell, toshiba, and i don't like the way alienwares m9570 looks, so i had my wife order me a NP5792. She ordered it on the 18th .. on the 21 the order was still pending so she sent them a e-mail asking what the problem was. Apparently the address for my bank account is in germany (where I'm orginally stationed) and shes in Kansas until I redeploy. Also the debit card she ordered it with only allows $1,500 a day purchases. So she had them withdrawl $1,300 and they told her that they would take out the other $1,205 the following day, which they didn't, they also never e-mailed her the contact information she asked for. So the following day was a Saturday, then Sunday, then today which is Christmas eve... and of course tomorrow is Christmas so I probably won't hear anything about the order till the 27th or so.... I also looked at buying the same build from xotic and found out that it would have been $200 cheaper and I could have gotten the laptop painted which ever color my heart desires. On sagernotebooks.com they offer two choices .. silver or black I would have perferred the silver but theres no where in the options to choose which color to pick. So I'm trying to be paitient although I payed for the 3 day shipping its taken over a week and the order is still not processed--- ok... well it will still take almost 2 more weeks from the time my wife recieves for it to get here in Iraq. I do hope this Laptop is as good as some of the reviews I've seen although like I said I know almost nothing about laptops. i am currently using a hpdv6000 and it won't play any new dvd's and it has nothing to do with the region I've already tried chaning it. So anyways I wish I had just gotten my Sager from xotix and I hope that when I do finally get it, its everytinhg I hoped for.

I would also recommend canceling the order. You will get a lot better service if you order via a reseller and more personal attention. I recommend calling to make the order so everything goes alright.

Cancel the order and, don`t worry, XoticPc is highly professional about everything they do. Maybe get your wife to call them and explain the situation and get them to make sure everything is fine and dandy :)

That's why I trust DHL or FedEx more than USPS or whatever it is called. They deliver your package without worrying.

For APO/FPO addresses US Postal Priority Registered mail is the safest shipping method. In almost 10 years shipping thousands of laptops we have only lost one...and it was covered by the insurance.

    10 years...thousands of laptops...only one loss.

Also, for what it is worth, DHL, UPS and FedEx do not deliver to APO/FPO addresses. In the end all shippers, including the USPS, deliver to the Military mail system that then delivers to APO/FPO addresses.

We have seen some delivered in 4 days while others can take 2-3 weeks, depending on the delivery location.

No, sorry, you got it all wrong, my fault. I was referring to international shipping (non-US) + not military related. For European shipping DHL/FedEx work much better than USPS/UPS.
I'd like you better (as a company) if you'd start international shipping (Europe). Europeans (I'm sure you'd have some clients here) want to buy laptops from US, but can't due to limitations imposed by resellers. Don't get me wrong, but even if the number of international customers isn't that high it's still something.

The resellers' restrictions are probably due to the relevant U.S. export control restrictions that apply to computers and/or the difficulty of complying with those restrictions, which is probably extremely onerous (based on a quick review of the impenetrable regulations, e.g., here http://www.access.gpo.gov/bis/ear/pdf/ccl4.pdf are the rules you need to work your way through in order to determine if you need an export license before you can ship a computer you've sold overseas - good luck trying to make head or tail of those :confused2: ).

Even the big companies make you jump through a lot of hoops before they'll ship overseas, or if they think that you're going to take it overseas when you buy it.

    Other issues are:

    1. With the world strife going on now the regulations change regularly and often. If you violate one of the new regulations because you didn't know of the change...the fines are very steep ranging up to about $50,000.

    2. The customer has to pay for import brokerage, Customs duties and/or taxes which they often don't count on when comparing prices because in Europe for example the VAT tax is already figured in to the price. In the US taxes are always figured in addition to the price.

    3. Warranty repairs are only done at the US factories, so the customer has to pay for shipping both ways. Customers tend to not think about or worry about this when comparing purchase prices...and then complain bitterly when they have a warranty issue.

    4. Unless it is handled exactly right the customer will have to pay whatever Customs duties and/or taxes are assessed when it is shipped back to them from warranty repair. Double taxation yes...but too often the proper paperwork is not filed with Customs as they ship it back to the US to avoid this when it is returned to them.

    5. There is no way to avoid the import brokerage on the return shipment from warranty repair.

    6. International shipments are subject to greater loss and/or damage, both during the original shipment and any warranty return shipments.

In addition, selfishly, our experience has taught us that shipping internationally will always causes us more work and more costs, yet we do not make any more on an international sale than we do on a domestic sale. So, after several years of experiencing all of the issues listed above, we stopped shipping internationally.

The only taxes a customer will have to pay in the EU is VAT and that's it.

Correct, but then there are import brokerage fees and Customs duties as well.

I saw what DHL had to pay for my package and it was only VAT.
