    lapping is sort of pointless as thats where the thermal paste comes into play, to fill in the micro gaps and create the seal.

    Have you guys considered UnderVolting? It will drop the temps.
    Unless you`re OCing,that is.

    Its more to remove that silver/tin layer and get down to the straight copper.
