That is an amazing deal, but my config below is still a lot cheaper. I have hopes 7970M will be fixed and will have no regrets. I already love the no decals and branding, and clean looks, absolutely love it. I cringe looking at the MSI, it's like looking at a person with a fabulous body, but having the face of a ogre with maggots crawling out of it's eyes.

Yeah just saw that. $600 less than what I paid for my GT70. Damn, pretty cheap

@hulawafu: lol yeah. MSI have basicly a love or hate design. People seem to be pretty devided on the looks of it. Personally I think its sexy :D

About the same price as my spec...

And indeed no need to look everyday at that thing, likely to bring bad luck to you for 10 generations

but with clevo you can upgrade that card and repaste/clean etc and still have warranty, i believe MSI warranty is voied if you play around with it. also i think MSI card is soldered onto the board? Not sure about this one. design is subjective, i personally dont like it

There is no MSI warranty. It's the barebones model. The warranty you get is from Xotic. And the GPU is MXM like the GT60, so not soldered.

did you look at the gallery? These new models are slick and not very flashy at all...

the few things that I like it above the sager are its sound (dynaudio), and the shortcut touch buttons on top of the keyboard...

That is quite the deal, I'd love to read some reviews for build quality and what's under the hood though.

Aren't these single fan MSI models running pretty loud and high heat on the CPU side will also affect the GPU's temp?

You can configure an NP9150 for ~$1770 after 3% off+NBR member discounts on powernotebooks with: Matte screen, free 16GB RAM upgrade, free 750GB HDD upgrade, i7-3610QM, GTX 680m, normal wifi, Windows 7 home premium.

My configuration was $1650 after the discounts.

The MSI starts that cheap without Windows 7. Add $100 for Win 7 which you NEED obviously, and it goes to over $1700, and that is with the standard 8GB RAM and 500GB HDD.

Msi uses a single fan design. Cooling is not as efficient

The design looks interesting, single fan with 2 ways exhaust. But it also means the temperature of the fresh air around the intake will greatly affect the heat dissipation on both the CPU and GPU, it's not gonna be as cool as Clevo's, not to mention Clevo's cooling system is weaker than Alienware's.

Don't feel too bad, a month from now there will be something better, then something that beats that a month later, then.....
And so goes the computer industry.

Saying that though, for my next laptop, I may want to try out MSI. I just hope their ease of access to the components is as good as Clevo.

After almost purchasing a MSI and making tons of research about it, I can tell you that it does.

It's actually not too far behind a Clevo in terms of cooling and fan noise, so this is a matter of personal preference.

As for me, I didn't like the MSI S-bar at all, since I had a similar laptop with those horrible 'touch buttons' before and I absolutely hated it, after pressing buttons by mistake due to a simple dust cleaning with my finger, when trying to press one of the Fn keys and what not, but all in all, this is just a minor qualm and not a deal breaker.

The MSI is a very nice alternative to the Clevo.

At least when i asked xotic about the FORCE laptop they told me it was a great machine, but clevo was definetely better, so there you go decide.
It sure looks like hell of an offer, but adding and substracting parts and upgrades it really aint son good a price anyway.

The other downside is that if you want to upgrade your processor it is typically far more expensive in a msi barebones
