From what I've read, the current 15" laptops (e.g., P150HM / NP8150) have been out since Jan 2011. I'm new to Sager/Clevo and am curious about when the next models will likely be released. Does anyone want to speculate? Or maybe someone can comment on the history of past release cycles.

If it makes sense, I am looking to hold out for a future model that will hopefully have video card switching. Thanks.

Don't hold your breath. Clevo doesn't seem to like using the mux switches that are present in some Alienware laptops. We have no clue why. Also, I have no clue. Some machines phase out fast, others slowly. In general, I'd say around a year or so for new models to come out. Up to you. If you keep waiting for the next best thing though, you'll never get anything.

From what I gathered in reading some of the forums is that the next model, speculated to be released early Q2'12 will have Ivy Bridge and backlit keyboard, though please correct me if you've read otherwise. But I have no comment on the GPU.

I recently got my NP8130 last week and believe me, I wish that I could hold out for the next model next year, but I was overdue for a new laptop and am happy with my purchase thus far. If you can wait, I would. But if you are on the market for a new laptop quickly, I say go ahead and purchase the current model.

Sager does't release new models often but they do refresh them to keep up with whats new. For example the Nvidia GTX 580M was just added to the options a couple weeks ago, they kept the model numbers the same but just made the options different. If the current CPU choices get bumped up in speed the cpu models numbers would change but the Sager models would stay the same but just have new options. They really only upgrade the models with major changes like new architecture.

Thanks all for the responses. I was referring to major changes, and it sounds like Q2 2012 is as good of a guess as any.
