    Hi all,

I bought a P150HM a couple of years back from PCspecialist with the 6970m. I loved that machine and was very impressed with it. However a couple of months back the card died, if I install the AMD drivers it gives me these weird horizontal stripes on a black screen whenever I boot it up (it works as a basic laptop just fine without installing the drivers).

I went to upgrade it to the 7970m with pc specialist and 10 days after I had paid for it all they contacted me telling me the 7970m was 'end of life' and would have to give me a refund :/

Annoying, but I figured I'll just buy the card (or another card) elsewhere. However this has proved to be a little difficult, does anyone know where I can buy just the card (or a different compatible card) from in the UK?

    Cheers,
    Stannerss

Unless you find someone in the forum it's hard to source it in the UK, there are blind flash procedures for those cards without the HM bios already flashed.

I see options putting 7970m into ebay.

Don't forget also about the Nvidia cards.

Sometimes a great deal on a 580M or 680M pop up.

I want to say a 580M, 675M (basically a 580 also) and a 680M should all work in the machine.
The 60 series will require a modded driver (easy to find or do) but otherwise work.
580M should be plug and play if it's got the right bios, if not you can flash it.

Anyway just wanted to point that out in case you can find one at a similar price to the AMD card or cheaper :)

I thought there are people who are interested in getting rid of their 7970m. Why don't you put up a WANTED thread and see if some one will sell you their 7970m..

Typically EM series owners but they would maybe more inclined to swap for a higher end card. Depends on price I guess.
