    HI all,

after a bad flash I bricked my P170EM laptop. After much searching (I am in Chile until the end of the year, so not practical/affordable to send laptop back to Europe)) I found a company that will reprogram the chip for me, but I need to provide them with a BIOS dump/.bin from a working laptop. @Prema kindly provided me one, but it did not work, which might be due to an old ME firmware on my laptop. Problem is, the only guys I found that would do this in Chile don't know/want how to update the firmware on the ME chip.

Thus I would like to request if there was any one out there with a P150EM/P170EM with an older BIOS (versions 1.0.0.3 - 1.0.0.5 should be fine, maybe other versions would work as well last working version I had was 1.0.0.3 and not sure which version is the ME firmware) that could send me a dump of the BIOS chip in .bin format so I get the BIOS reprogrammed, please?

    Many Thanks!
    Jorge

You can find them here, but the earliest versions are 1.00.04 for both bios and ec.

However, if they can flash the bios eeprom then they can do the same with the ME eeprom; it's the same procedure. Easiest is to desolder all of them, read their content (in order to make sure to match the bins) and then flash them. It's possible one or more are combined on a single chip; the service manual claims either one 48 Mbit or a 32+16 Mbit configuration. They'll be labelled '25' on the chip and likely, this being Clevo, on the motherboard as well.

The 6MB binary files provided (6x8 = 48 Mbit) have the bios, ec and me appended end-to-end in one file. Since you're having them flashed to the eeprom, you may as well flash the latest version for all of them; Clevo P170EM, bios+me+ec v1.02.17. Have separated these, so you can match the binaries to the specific eeprom scenario, whichever was used on this motherboard.

Could also flash them for you, but then you'd need to ship the eeproms (or mb) to Europe after all ...

@t456 : Thanks for the detailed explanation and the offer to flash them, if I can't get the issue fixed here might take on that offer when I come back to Europe. ;)
just to know, where are you located?

I will detaily check the motherboard and attempt to identify correctly the chips. Althought the company I found did a good work soldering/desoldering and reprogramming the BIOS chip previously (apparently, mobo still not working, but work looks "clean"), they are used to "simple" systems with a single/standard BIOS chip, so got a bit confused when I told them theat ther might be a second BIOS chip. I will attemp to identify the chips myself and worst case scenario buy a BIOS flasher and just get them to desolder/resolder the chips. same company sells a EZP2010 model, should do the trick if I am correct?

    Many thanks for the help!

Base images are very rare, try contacting your reseller and see if they can grab it through clevo themselves.

That won't help when flashing straight to the eeprom with a programmer; these specific files have padding (and will mis-align when flashed directly). The programmer expects a 1:1 binary, hence the 'bios+me+ec' files listed earlier.
