hey I just got my sager and finished installing everything on it. I am running on windows XP. I installed the software for the fingerprint reader but it says that there is no fingerprint reader connected when i try to run it. For the webcam I cant seem to figure what to do. I ran the setup from the driver cd but snap vsnp2uvc wont open and watchdog wont install because it doesnt detect the camera. any suggestions?

The driver that Vista installed on its own gave me the same error. I uninstalled the driver, then installed the fingerprint driver from the disc and then it worked fine.

Edit - The driver for it is in the same place as the protector software, make sure you uninstall the reader in Vista control panel first though, otherwise it gives you that "already have the best driver" message if you try and install over the existing.

Double Edit - I saw you are in XP, but it is likely the same thing, uninstall the driver that XP put in and add the one from cd. :)

How did you install the driver from the cd. I installed it from the x86 folder and clicked on autorun. it installed protector suite QL. Should I uninstall, and can you explain please how to install the driver straight from the cd. Thanks so much.

I believe once I uninstalled the fingerprint driver windows had in there, then the device went to the unknown hardware section. Then in control panel/system/hardware I right clicked on the unknown device, and hit update/install driver. Then you choose it yourself, browse to the disc and directory, and hit ok.

In Vista it comes up in the device manager as "Biometric", if it isnt installed yet then it will be in the unknown devices list with a question mark next to it. If its installed, just right click and hit uninstall. If it is unknown, right click and hit "install driver"

well i cant seem to find anything that says biometric and I cant find an unknown devices list. Is it possible that the fingerprint reader isnt connected?

Might be best to plead for an XP user to help us out here, it may very well be that XP catagorizes the reader differently. Otherwise if you could upload a screenshot of your device manager?

i figured it out. I plugged in a USB mouse and it didnt work and I plugged in an ipod to see if there is an error with the USB. That didnt work so i ninstalled all the usb root HUB thinking this would fix it, and when i restarted i got multiple messages and two of them were for the webcam and fingerprint reader. So now everything is up and running, and if any1 else has this problem the finger print reader is named USB Root HUB. Thanks sco_fri.
