im thinking about changing my 2gigs from being on 2 sticks to 1 stick..(is it even possible actually if you already placed your order?)

    i noticed that 2gigs 1 sodimm is 20$s cheaper than the corsair brand 2gigs 1 sodimm. $95 vs $115.
does the cosair name make any difference? (future upgrades...some people talk about wanting identical brand sticks when they upgrade..performance etc)

and is it worth having the 2gigs one one stick now? (probally gonna upgrade in like 4 years to 4gigs).
like in the future, they wont release like faster 2gig sticks or something where you just want to replace all your ram lol?

i changed mine from 2x1GB to 1x2GB after placing my order no problem, contact your reseller hopefully before its shipped.

From what i know brand names dont make that much of a difference performancewise. If your looking for a reputable name for a decent price try patriot ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220229

Brand names don't make a difference, but the manufacturer of the RAM chips do. I'd contact the reseller and make sure they use only Micron chips even in the offbrand RAM. If not, then get the brand name.

In my opinion, 20 dollars for a guarantee that you're getting RAM from a reputable company is worth it. But do find out what kind of RAM you get if you choose not to pay the extra 20 dollars.

Is the Dual Channel that existed in the good 'ol Northwood days still applicable with the Core2's? I mean 1 stick could probably be a infitely small tad slower than 2 sticks, but maybe not.

And lucky you if you keep your laptop for 4 years... I mean all new laptops have probably a a 3 years at most lifespan... You'll probably want to upgrade more than just the RAM lol...

Whatever you choose, get a branded stick. Corsair, OCZ are top, plus they usually have lifetime warranties.

People seem to say that going Dual Channel gives you like a 1-5% boost at most, so it's not really worth any worry about. ;)
