I got a 2098 from XoticPC last month, and it's served me well so far. There are a couple details driving me batty that maybe someone can help with or offer advice on how to handle.

    1. The wireless toggle switch on the front of the laptop turns off Bluetooth, but not the 802.11X receiver. The "program" that lets you toggle which it turns off (or both) is non-responsive and doesn't respond to mouse clicks or keyboard commands. Basically, this laptop isn't airplane-friendly right now.

    2. The battery is floppy. Even engaged all the way in and with both locks in place, there is a little bit of wobble that just feels sloppy. The battery isn't anywhere near sliding out, but the sound of plastic smacking plastic is getting annoying every time I set it in my lap is getting annoying.

    3. About once a week, for a total of less than a minute, the laptop goes into Battery mode and tells me it's not plugged in even though it is. There doesn't seem to be anything prompting this, or anything I do that remedies it. It starts on its own and it ends on its own.

Any thoughts or help with any of these isses would be appreciated. Thanks!

    1. Regarding the wireless switch problem, you need to check if the wireless adapter is installed on the bottom slot. Remove three screws on a bottom cover. Open the bottom over. There are two mini PCI-e slots in the middle of the computer. See the attached photo. If the wireless adapter is in the top slot, you need to install the wireless adapter in the bottom slot. You may need to remove the metal support before you install the wireless adapter.

    2. There is a very small gap between the battery and the case. However, don't worry, the battery will not fall out.

    3. We have not seen that problem so far. Please watch the power LED on the left front of the computer when the Windows reports the computer is on battery power by itself. Is the battery indicator lit?

    Hope this helps :))

If you think you aren't comfortable with what you're doing, describe the problems and suggested solutions to Xotic PC's customer service and see if they'll fix it for you. So far with them I've had amazing service and fast responses to all my endeavors. I live internationally so I hope I would never need to send my computer back to them because something failed, but I've gotten good comments about their service before, so I would suggest trying them out.

If you know what you're doing in taking apart machines, then go ahead it shouldn't hurt XD

D2 Ultima is correct. Proceed only if you feel comfortable doing so, otherwise you need to have a tech guide you through or worst case scenario, you would have to send it in to Sager.
