No. Extreme needs way more power and cooling, and might even use a different socket configuration.

Well, what if I go barebones? How the hell do they decide how much power they give me then?

And plus, a 2.4GHz would be way more than enough for at least two years. Then it might still be more than enough. Hell, even the P4-H/T are still plenty for any games you wanna run today.

Yes! You can get a Clevo m570RU with an extreme processor. Killernotebooks.com offers the Executioner-SR where you can have it configured with the Core 2 Extreme x7800 2.6 GHz unclocked for an extra $499. K|N Executioner-SR comes standard with a modified cooling unit that is just awesome. It is ~$800-$900 more expensive than the Sager NP5790 but the "oomph" factor is definitely there. Check it out. Oh, it comes shipped with the fingerprint reader included, unlike Sager at the current time.

Disclosure: I'm not an employee of K|N. Just a shopper looking for the best notebook with the best bang for the bucks.

The X7800 has just been released:

Until September when the X7900 comes out it is the fastest chip on the block.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to upgrade to the Extreme processors but I suggest waiting until Sager offers it to make sure. They need to test it.

I believe the extreme mobile processors have a slightly higher TDP (45 W?) and have a couple power saving features disabled. So, there is a chance they might not work well without additional cooling measures.
