hello all, first id like to say thank to you all. for what u ask? ive been reading this forum for several months after stumbleing into the p6183. i was one of the early p171x fx orders, and about a week or so before it shipped, and reading these forums, i decided go with the 5793! and love it.!! this is my first post here, hope i have it in the right place. my question is, whenever i hit the 3rd user defined hot button, ( which the default the manual says is windows media player) not only does the wmp open, but so does the web cam. xotic tech support couldnt figure it out either. they had me do a full reinstall, which i did, and after putting in all the drivers, hit the button, and again, wmp and web cam open up. any thoughts? thanks for any help.

Sounds like the process that monitors that key for the webcam is running and catching your keypress. This would turn on your webcam in addition to the hotkey driver turning on window media player.

    Try this:
Go to the Control Panel > Classic View > Administrative Tools > Services

You should get a popup that lists all the services running at current. Go down to the one named Synteck AVStream USB2.0 WebCam Service. Right click it and go to properties. Go to startup type and change it to disabled. I haven't tested this, but if it doesn't work, just reverse the steps to enable the process again just in case.

    Otherwise try this:
Go to you drive> Program files (x86) > Videoview

COPY the CloseApp.exe to the Startup folder under all programs in the Start menu. This should close the process that monitors the keypress for the webcam software as your computer starts up. (I'm assuming the process starts up first).

If neither of those work, sorry I tried my best
    Dan

thank you indnny (Dan)!! i disabled it in the start up, and that worked!! and manually the web cam just to make sure that still worked, which it did like a charm!! i thank everyone for their replies. out of curiosity dan, what drivers are u useing to get that oc score? im still useing the stock as i have no troubles, and ive read so many varying opinions on the other drivers? we seem to have the same setup?
    thnx again. Don

Actually, that score is only with an OC of the processor and FSB. I haven't been able to get anything near that right now, or probably ever again. I have no idea what I did, but it was crazy. I made sure to get the screenshot just in case. Maybe it was because I had overclocked it that high in winter. My heater doesn't work very well, which leaves me with freezing rooms. Right now, it's spring in the northern hemisphere, and I don't seem to be able to OC that high without blue screening.

Nice to hear that it turned out well for your hotkey. I was basing my fixes on speculations only  .
