hey guys. had a few questions, been saving them up. where can i turn off the blue tooth automatic update feature? also, iive noticed that nero home always is wanting to run in the background alot. ive gone to msconfig, disabled it. and that works, but im wondering if theres a way to turn it off without running in selective startup with
'windows has blocked some programs" alert always showing up? its kinda funny, i didnt install the home feature on purpose, but then its looking for it, useing more resources. and last but not least, ive been reading up on the new driver update (174.90) and it seems that users of 5793 and vista 64 seem happy with it. kinda hard to make a sound decision through other sager laptops, and sli users having a hard time with it. so i guess the question, is 5793 users useing vista 64 and the 8800m gtx likeing the driver update? i think what i ultimately gathered through reading posts is that it lowered 3dmark06 score like 300 points, but it was more stable. well ill thank everyone in advance for their help. don

imo nero sucks (the newest versions)... lol.. but yeah you can use a program like jv16 and kill that process or uninstall and reinstall and leave nero home out..
-
That app have more bloatware than Norton... If you uninstall it, will leave so much registry keys and .dlls beind that is better to keep it installed.
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
The searching of nero is terrible. And it's hard to remove.
-
when uninstalling nero it leave almost 1300 registry entries behind.. yes you read that correctly..i have seen nero literally kill vista installation when people have uninstalled it.
-
I'm glad i haven't installed it yet!!
Ne good alternatives to Nero?? -
-
I use the nero 7 that came with the laptop,no problems there :|
-
The best burning soft for me it´s Ashampoo Burning Studio 7.
No bloatware, no junck installed, no weird TAPI drivers installed, just a stable and complete solution in a small package as well...
Try it here: http://www.download.com/Ashampoo-Bu...842.html?part=dl-AshampooB&subj=dl&tag=button

Thanks guys!!
Btw the headphone port on my sager just died!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its just been a week since i got this laptop!!!
Headphones work 1/2 way through! inserting it fully - dead silence!!
ne ideas what shoul i do!!?? (sorry for the OT btw!) -
wow.....seems like many people having problem with the headphone jack, sager need to work on this one.
-
I counted over 10 forum members with this issue.
Sollutions:
-Cheap USB sound card from creative, (live! 24bit), much better than onboard sound, good software for tweaking, awesome bass and volume.
-A more expensive but more professional creative xi-fi express slot sound card, which fits in the express slot . I can`t find the post with a user posting a pic of it, but it does extend out of the laptop a few cm.
-Send it back for repairs, Sager should pay both ways for warranty issues.
Before though, make sure you reinstall the drivers, you don`t want to take any chances. -
So if my headphone jack breaks done, Sager will cover it in the standard warranty ? And what about shipping from where I live ?
-
You`ll have to pay for shipping internationally.
I have mine dead, I am still debating whether I should send it for warranty or just get the new mobo with support for extreme cpu`s also and be done with it... -
Ah I see. Thanks
-
Contact your vendor and see if they can show you how to replace the port(s) without having to send the entire unit back. -
Wow! this is just crap!!!
btw i saw that the pins inside the headphone jack were unusually depressed as compared to other ports!
so, with the help of a safety pin, custom bent by me i tried to pull em out nd was able to get it to work but only in a specific position nd setting!!!
1 minor disturbance nd u have do the adjustment again!!!
btw i'm thinking of sending it back to xoticpc.com!! or maybe hardmodding the socket after opening this thing up!
i have a lotta experience soldering miniature circuits!! -
does xotic pc warranty cover 2 ways shipping?
-

-
I have pestered Zfactor to work on it, since his friend has the issue but he didn`t update on the status.
Hey Z, you in here ? -
yeah i have one sitting here ill be taking apart later..was supposed to do it yesterday but i got way to busy..
-
Ok,so if you do make it work, I`ll have to ask Sager what their word is on this..
-
well im pulling the mobo out.. this way i get get to the traces on the other side to actually solder on new plugs.. so im sure this will void warranty though they may not even know since the plug i got matches the same color as the stock one.. unless they actually open it up but i can solder pretty much as neat as the factory does.. so im not sure what their take on that will be, he just doesnt want to wait to send it back since he is leaving the country to go back to iraq this weekend.. so im trying to get it done before he leaves for him
-
btw i get most parts from digikey unless they are specialized: http://www.digikey.com/
lol 3 pages of these type of jacks: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Selection
once i get his jack out i can narrow it down if this one doesnt fit. the one i got is pretty standard among notebooks but i have about 55+ to pick from. once i have it in my hands i can measure it up and make sure i matches -
can the jack be replaced?? if yes then how? can u post a tutorial!
i'm sure it'll be a sticky since headphone jack prob is fairly common nd frequent even in new systems like mine!!!
Sager notebooks seem to be plagued by GJOD!! (Green Jack Of Death)!!! -
well technically any part can be replaced.. is it something id want someone to do if they are not sure of circuit board reapir.. and i mean very small traces etc.. not really. i would not want to be responsible for someone pulling their whole mobo out then soldering it wrong or burning up their mobo by soldering to hot or to long etc..
once i see how much work is involved ill def post up info.. just am not sure many here will be able to do this repair themselves while others will..
basically right now i can tell you need to pull the whole mobo out. then de-solder the one on there and solder on a new one.. not a big job IF YOU KNOW what you are doing -
Exactly,
However, I am expecting a resolve on this. -
Yea! i have a lotta experience with soldering nd de-soldering!!
I've made quite a few miniature circuit boards etc. so i guess its something i can do!
btw is only the jack at fault of ne other part of the mobo? -
Just the jack afaik. Since the onboard speakers work.
-
not sure yet. ill be starting to take it apart here in a few hours when my wife gets home to watch the baby. cant do it right now since she wants me to play lol, does look like it may have been bd soldering or the legs were thin and may have broke once the board is in my hands ill know in a few seconds
-
oh! no prob man!! btw how old is she? if u dont mind me asking!!
(btw i'm currently posted in Paediatrics ward in a university Hospital so just curious! lol!! pls dont mind!!)
==========================================
EDIT
Hey! it appears that the jack is still working!!
I plugged out the headphones nd still no noise from the onboard speakers!!!
So i nudged the pins inside the jack a little nd the sound frm the speakers came back!!! ????
Hmmmmm........??????? -
who my daughter?? she is 2.. = )
it may be the piece inside the jack that makes contact is to thin and maybe does not retain its position.. you may be able to gently bend it a bit and get it back to shape.. but it prob will not last long ........
unless its a bad solder joint that sometimes makes contact and sometimes does not -
Generally 2 yr olds r fun! they r usually enjoying themselves!
btw i strongly feel that the pins r at fault cause, if the socket wont make contact at least the ext speakers would work!
in my case i guess the pins r messed up due to ultra low quality jacks used by clevo!! -
Anyboy want to make a petition to sager about this so that they can press Clevo on using different ones? we are talking about an expensive machine here...
-
thats what i'm talking about!
i get such an expensive gaming lappy only to find it messed up within a week!!!
besides the jack which is top priority! they should undergo rigorous quality checks such as HPs!!! which i guess is nil in clevo, sager etc.!! -
My D900K's headphone jack is solid metal. Used it almost everyday for 2 years.. no problems.
I think that Clevo might have bought faulty jacks from a particular manufacturer. Then Clevo might not have realized that when manufacturing the final product. -
Maybe, but it still does not justify much. If things are what Sager say they are, it would only cost them more to fix the issue than to get Clevo to use better jacks.
-
Maybe this will be fixed in the M57TU?
-
I don`t think so honestly, but it might be. I mean, Kaltmond was the only one to see it in person and he might have forgotten about the specific details...
-
tomm i will have a replacement part number. the one i thought it was will not fit. im going to match it up in the book tomm with something that will work. ill keep you posted
-
My M570RU is making 8 months now, and so far any problems with the jacks... and I use them every day... on work I use earphones on home I use a 5.1 system.
So far so good, and I hope it continues like that...
Maybe mine is an engeneering sample or something -
WTH!!?? I got the headphones to work after 1/2 hr of playing with the pins in the socket, but when i plug the headphones out no ext speaker sound!!??
after i connect the base pins in the socket by inserting 1/4th of the jack in there, the ext speakers start working!!?? definitely a pin prob!! -
Or mabye shyster..... -
Or at least a petition requesting free audio Xpress Audio Cards....
Im calling PCMW up tommorrow........ -
I think Shyster1 would be better for this since he has the speaking skills, myself , I would use brute force and an axe
