so do you guys think its possible? im not talking about just putting it in... im talking about fully modding the computer keyboard, finding out some way of putting in an illuminated keyboard.

theres several ways i though of doiing it. 1 was buying an external keyboard that is already backlit, take it apart and just try and find a way for it to work. a keyboard that i know is usb powered, it lights up several colours and is all built in on the keyboard, having no programs on the computer to run it. so im thinking hook it up via internal usb.

i would for sure take it to someone who knows what their doing. trying to mod the original 5796 keyboard, there hs got to be a way. i would fully rewire the inside to get this to work. i think the best way is to do it via internal usb, being probably the easiest way without having to do any hard wiring.

i could also maybe just try and put in the lights from any illuminated keyboard and put them on the sagers'. (this could be done by maybe taking off all the keys or fully taking it apart and running a seperate wire apart from the keyboard)

i would first get an old laptop keyboard and do a prototype from that, before messing around with the real thing.

i have no idea how the keyboard comes out, but if its like the dell xps m1730, its very easy. maybe if i get a hand on a 1730 keyboard, i can rewire it to run via usb.

these are all just ideas, but it maybe something to try.

perhaps you can buy a spare part notebook pro keyboard from apple?
that might be your best bet if your going to do any dissections.
