Hey guys, I have an 8170 with a 6990 and I play a lot of starcraft2. I had to send my laptop back a couple weeks after getting it due to a sound issue. However ive noticed that since having it wiped out and sent back that the FPS in SC2 seems to have dropped pretty bad. As soon as a start up a 1v1 on ultra settings with the highest resolution I sit around 40fps but when battles start happening I drop south of 20 Fps. This cant be normal right? ive tried reinstalling the drivers from ATI but nothing seems to be raising my FPS. Also i noticed that the game itself is recommending me to play the game on lower settings which i dont think it had before? Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated!

thats my 3d mark 11 reading and also it shot out this:

Your result has the following problem(s) and will not be shown for example on leaderboards:
Unable to verify AMD Catalyst tessellation setting, result invalid. (What is this?)
Graphics driver is not approved (What is this?)

Try removing all of your ATI drivers first, I would recommend using Driver Sweeper - Download.com in Safe Mode (access tapping F8 key during bootup) to make sure you remove all of the old ATI drivers.
Then try installing the drivers originally supplied with your Sager first to see if you have any issues.
Also, do you have any other games to test? Just to see if it only isolated to SC2 or if it affecting other games.

You need to be getting around 85-120fps in the beginning of a 1v1 match.
In battles, you need to be getting more than 50fps in 1v1.
    Settings: maxed out.

If you are getting less, then something is wrong and needs to be fixed. Either overheating, or bad thermal paste job, or driver issue, or insufficient power supply, or bad OS install.

Yea, something is definitely wrong. I know this is a bit obvious but have you made sure you're in high performance mode?? Also, have you disabled GPU acceleration for flash video? AMD still had a bug where, say, you have a youtube video in the background and you have hardware acceleration enabled for flash, if you play a game or something the GPU will be stuck in its medium clocks until you close any flash instance that is running. You can try to confirm if this is the problem by opening any monitoring software (gpu-z? AMD's own CCC), alt-tab to your game, wait a few seconds, alt tab out and look at the clocks.

You should easily be able to get at least P3500 on 3dmark11

Now that's more to the normal range of scores. Have you tried any games to see how fast they run?
