Depends if you use your battery a lot or not.
Do you go through a couple of charge/discharge cycles per day?

Basically the more you use the battery the more wear you will have.
It is a consumable item after all.

i do a charge/discharge cycle on a month or once in two months.
i use my laptop plugged. but sometimes i leave the socket plugged overnight. is this a bad thing?

Well now that is not what I expected, the way you use your laptop you shouldn't have much wear.

There is a small chance that all you would have to do is re-calibrate the battery and it might be ok.
But that might just cause more wear.

thanks moral, that was a good read +1
im contemplating flashing/updating my bios. this may solve my problem. but ill monitor it first with the critical warning off and see how it goes.
    cheers

oh one more note, could the fact that i leave my psu plugged overnight be responsible for overcharging the battery, leading to more wear?

I'm not sure, I would have thought that it would stop charging when it was full even if you leave it plugged in.

I leave my notebook plugged in all day and I only have 7% wear.

With my old toshiba I used to go through many charge/discharge cycles and that gave me over 80% wear in 1 year.

There might be a small chance that you could be sent a new battery under warranty, so maybe you could check to see if sager might send you a new one?
