How many people here paid the extra $200 for the 0-pixel dead/stuck policy?

Part of me feels like this is a suckers policy. Because it sounds like "For $200 I'll make sure you get a good screen. Don't pay, and I'll make sure you get one with an issue cuz we're saving the 0-dead/stuck screens for those willing to pay $200."

Am I right one this? It's like how some companies charge $10 for rush processing. So they work on it asap to get it to you. So if I don't pay up, you'll leave it on the side for a few days?

I'm pretty sure that this is not true.

I'm going to do a 4000 dollar purchase for a Sager NP9262 very soon, so I've also been worrying a lot about this problem. But after what I've researched, it's not really worth it in the long run. Even if you get a LCD with dead pixels, you can just send the laptop back within 30 days to Sager for a full refund.

I'm very curious to hear other aspects on this topic too though.

True. But they won't repay you back for shipping, which is about $100 anyways, and now you're waisting time and money to send it back.
I wish they would be like ASUS and just give the 0 pixel policy from the get go.

i didnt take out the extra policy and had no issues with my glossy screen on my m860tu.
heard that some resellers have taken the matte screen off the order list as they have had lots of dead pixels on them.

Also... what screen are you getting?
Myself, I'm getting a 1900x1600 glossy one, which makes a single dead pixel VERY small and hard to see. Remember that if there's over 4 dead pixels (isn't that Sagers policy?), you'll get a new one, nomatter if you ordered the 0 dead pixel policy or not.

    True. It's near invisible.
And with the LCD production systems today, dead pixels are quite uncommon anyway.

AND ON TOP OF THAT, remember that dead pixels can occur suddenly... also after 32 days.

well if you wanna get a cheap dead pixel warrenty pick the one that comes with the Labor & Parts (the 3 years sager labor/party warrenty is $259 but the same thing with 30 days no dead pixel warrenty is $289 so just a 30 bucks difference)

I picked that i didn't get no dead pixel so either they checked it twice before sending it or i just didn't get a dead/stuck pixel

Livesoft. I kow there was some discussion, but I didn't see one that asked for a simple poll. :) I just wanted to see how many people actually used it.

xancage- True. But on a black screen you can easly see a stuck white/green/blue/red(not so much) even on a high resolution screen. And I just know if I got one with 2 stuck, it would annoy me to no end that it's there. :)

My apologies :) I didn't want to sound harsh. For my part, I took the insurrance with a 3 year warranty so it was cheaper. I didn't want to have a dead pixel and be stuck with it or having to return it since the shipping is really expensive.

Indeed. I'm also a kinda "perfectionist", so just knowing that my screen had a tiny flaw might even remove my focus from my work to the dead pixel. It'd all depend on how bad the case was though.

jimprime advice is really good too; If you want a warranty anyway, you might as well pick Sagers cheap offer with a 0 dead pixel policy and save some bucks there. I mean, I wouldn't pay 200 dollars for the 0 dead pixels policy, but if it's only 30 dollars on top of the warranty, it's really worth it.
Only problem for me is that I live in Denmark, so any warranty from Sager/XoticPC would be quite a problem for me (since they only cover delivery to US residents).
