I'm thinking of getting the sager NP8268 special / clevo P150SM-A SPECIAL from reflex notebooks Canada to replace the alienware 17 I have and I noticed that it comes with a 180w PSU. Can anyone confirm if sager / clevo 230w or 330w PSUs are compatible with the aforementioned laptop?

    Bummer cos I don't think 180w is enough for a 980M

I don't recall any times where there were issues with the 180w not being large enough for the NP8268. You should have no problems, they are engineered very carefully to make sure all parts are going to work with whats included. If a problems is discovered later they adjust accordingly. Since this model has been available for months and there haven't been any changes I think its pretty safe to say you're not going to need a larger PSU under normal usage.

Yo ghosts why not get the P770ZM? That will be much better :)... As for the P150SM-A, I believe that the dell 240W PSU can be used once you use a cable adapter/connector to connect it..

The visual aesthetics are important and this model looks fine.

If you are confident in your own skills you can remove the cable from the dell 240W brick and put your own cable in it to give it a professional look. The issue is your skill and knowledge level to do it and the safety ratings are obviously broken.

Is it a mod or something that's bought off the shelf?

EDIT: so the only reason it doesn't work is because the plugs (at the PC end) don't fit?

check the P65x owner´s lounge, that series has identical power connectors to your machine and i linked a post in the OP describing which cable adapter is necessary to connect the Dell 240W PSU :)

so the sager takes 19v though the dell PSU is 19.5v - does the extra voltage harm the laptop?

this is what reflex notebook have listed:

i wouldnt think so... ive used that dell psu with my previous P150HM machine before, and it had the same stock 180W psu that the P65x series has. worked totally fine for years before the gpu/display cable/mobo crapped out on me :D that was unrelated to the PSU though ;)
