hey guys I cannot log into my primary account here is which is drew01 because I don't have the password to my main account. I request password I clicked on for and this is one of the accounts I created a while back. I am typing this from my iPhone. earlier today my your laptop shut down on me I cannot turn it on. I had a lot of problems with this laptop especially the battery since I got this laptop which I bought from xoticPC about two years ago. I had the battery replaced two times. I had at first I thought it was because I did not have it plugged in to charger but I did. My battery had went bad a 3rd time so it's plugged in all the time. But this is first time I Cannot turn it on.
I also did not back up my computer and I have a lot of important documents there and I went to a local computer shop which is one of the few that is located where I am they are closed for today so I will have to go tomorrow morning. does anyone here have advice on what I can do now since I'm frustrated because I did not back up a lot of important document on my computer? What are the odds that the computer place cannot fix my laptop? This wouldn't be that bad if I had kept a backup of everything of my laptop on an external hard drive. I don't have access to a computer now that works. I have another Asus but it has tons of issues like screen lines and keyboard doesn't work at all. Has anyone with a sager had this issue and can tell me don't worry about it? Frustrated computer shop is closed today. If I know for a fact that it can be repaired, then I wouldn't be this upset now.

Most likely your data is still there, and if you will take the laptop to a local computer shop they will be able to save your data.

Do you know what are the chances that they cannot restore my laptop such that if so-and-so is broken then I cannot get back all my data.
the thing is I will have to wait till tomorrow morning and there is nothing I can do right now. -
If the laptop won't turn on at all, it pretty much has to be that the mobo died. It certainly has nothing to do with Windows.
Your data should be fine, as the drives likely have nothing to do with the issue. Just remove them and either install in an external enclosure, or find another laptop in which they can be installed. -
It sounds like the motherboard or the charging circuit was the problem all along, it's pretty odd to replace batteries instead of fixing the cause, but maybe there were a bad batch of batteries back then
Since your support came from XoticPC, I wouldn't go to a local computer shop until you hear back from XPC.
You could have the drive with your files on it backed up to another drive you could use externally from your other PC's.
I wouldn't get involved in using a non-Sager/Clevo certified shop, they might mess it up or take a really long time to figure it out.
Please come back and let us know how it works out

Hi thanks for the reply here is my issue my xotic PC warranty expired a long time ago. the other issue is I'm out of the country at the moment and I would like to get this computer fixed as soon as possible. So even if I was in the country now sending it for repairs and having it sent back to me will take weeks at the absolute minimum which is not what I want.
I want to know is assuming there is something wrong with the laptop inside does that mean my hard drive is still OK which means I could put this Ssd into another computer and open the files I have there or is that not possible?hmscott likes this. -
The hard drive in my Sager laptop is a ssd and not external hard drive.

You say it won't start up so I am guessing you hear no sound or lights ?
custom90gt, Dannemand and hmscott like this. -
I wouldn't write to the SSD - don't delete files or add new ones, as you don't know what condition the file system is in, and I wouldn't try to do a disk check either - just copy your files.
It's a lot to ask for someone to predict what's wrong with an unseen laptop
The symptoms indicate a wide range of possibilities, including another dead battery, broken power supply or bad cables - it happens over time sometimes with a cable breaking in the middle under the insulation.
It could be the power connector broke away from the motherboard, I've seen that a number of times. It could be a failed component on the motherboard for the power distribution.
It could be a blown fuse on the motherboard, or in the power supply, that would be the first thing to check.
It's also alot to ask a computer repair shop to open a laptop they have never seen before, and likely don't have documentation on to debug.
I would try to find a Sager/Clevo certified shop. Check for Sager / Clevo sales outlets in your current area, they can either service it or point out who can.
Don't rush into the first store that says Computer's on it, find one that knows about your hardware.

Sager np2740
I was using laptop earlier then the laptop suddenly shut off. this has happened before but reason is because I forgot to plug in the charger to my laptop. I noticed that my laptop was already plugged in so this is first time this has happened. Then laptop does not power on.
There is no sound no nothing when I click on power button.
to the poster that mentioned have a sager specialist look at it, I can't. I'm out of the country at the moment. There are only a few computer shops where I'm located and only one here is recommended by others by that shop does not have sager parts. Last time I had screen issue and I was told they could fix it if I get the replacement sager led screen. I did went back to the us and was able to get it fixed at a computer shop. Things are very complicated when you are out of the country.hmscott likes this. -
So I like to know what are the most likely scenario's. basically I need to get this computer and. my data as soon as possible if my Sager laptop is broke. does that mean I will need a brand-new laptop because I will have to go back to the US to get one because the laptops here in this country are very bad quality.
and if there's something wrong with my laptop does that mean I would have to toss the laptop away if it's broken and cannot be fixed because I would not want to spend a lot of money to fix this laptop since I read that Sager laptop could cost minimum 1000 dollars to repair and I had so many issues with it.hmscott likes this. -

Sager and other companies will continue to service laptops outside of warranty, but may charge you for the repair. Asus and MSI have been known to offer free repairs to people contacting them after warranty.
Given your history of repairs, and this similar failure, Sager may offer to fix it for you free.
If you are staying somewhere for a while, Sager can ship you a mailing box and you can send it in from where you are.
Let us know how it works out -

The chances are very good that your SSD / storage internal to the laptop are ok, you didn't mention any sparks, fire, or smoke - just a dead laptop, so the internal drives are likely still AOK.
We already went through this in another thread:

Does the machine or brick light up when plugged in?
toughasnails and hmscott like this. -
Ok this is very weird. I plugged in charger into laptop and notice the first 2 lights turn on. These are the lights under touchpad to the right. One is orange other is green. Not sure exactly what their are. The 3rd is battery logo but doesn't have light. Im pretty certain positive yesterday when I plugged in the charger there was no lights at all near the bottom of my laptop it's to the right of the touchpad.
When I click on the power button on my laptop the orange and green lights both shut down does anyone know what that means I will be going to the laptop repair shop now since I have to fix this asap.hmscott likes this. -

Does that mean getting it replaced is not worth it? Does that mean my data in ssd is still good? I will head there very soon so looking for any other information here. Reading threads online now on iPhone is frustrating.

Your data should be fine as long as the drive is fine. The shop MIGHT be able to rework the board. Replacement might be harder for them as far as sourcing another board, if it comes to that. Sorry about the bad news bears.

Hi there so assuming my hard drive is fine, how would I be able to transfer this data to another computer?
First I would need another computer. I assume I have to take whatever hard drive is in the computer and replace it with this one? Then transfer everything to an external hard drive? Then take out the hard drive and put original hard drive in other computer? Or is there a way to put the data from ssd hard drive into an external hard drive in easier way?
Or could I just take this ssd and put it into another computer and use the computer like that? My issue is I would need to buy another laptop as I have no spare one that works. I also have no other computer where I could put this ssd drive in where I can transfer data to an external hard drive which I do have.hmscott likes this. -
ok I went to computer shop and the guy tells me that they would do a diagnostic test on it and maybe even clean it if that might be a way to fix that issue. they mentioned that it could be a shortage and if that is the case then the laptop is no good anymore. What was interesting was he told me if he remove the internal battery my laptop would not work even on charging plug in is that true because I didn't know that. I had read one way to fix this was remove battery then plug in charger than power in and he said internal batteries don't work like that. Is it also true if assuming a laptop works and its internal battery, u can't remove laptop battery and have it plugged in similar to laptop with external battery?
He tells he that they would be able to transfer any data in that computer to my external hard drive. my question for this is if they do this would this be before they do certain things to the laptop that could maybe damage the hard drive and that's why he ask? Or is It because well you can't transfer everything to external hard drive because the current ssd would be put back in laptop? Thus at the moment I wouldn't be able to transfer anything since laptop won't turn on.
Could I tell them exactly which documents I want transferred or could I tell them can you transfer everything on my hard drive? For example copy and paste all my documents, my music , downloads folder, and the desktop shortcuts icons and even all my programs? Or would The all programs not work? For example I want to back up everything on my laptop to an external hard drive so if I buy a new computer assuming this one doesn't work anymore, I want my new computer to have same everything like my laptop.
Can someone tell me exact procedure that I need to do here if they ask me what programs to transfer to external hard drive? Going back tomorrow as they tell me it takes 1 day.
Thanks. -

If your laptop can't be fixed then buy yourself another laptop and a external hard drive case. Put your old drive from the old laptop in the external case then take the files you need. It's very easy to do.
-
HI there is an external hard drive case basically an external hard drive except it's for those hard drives that are put inside a computer? This that is what is needed to connect it to a laptop?
If that's the case why would they ask if I wanted to transfer anything to external hard drive then? Assuming laptop does work, there's no point of this. If it doesn't then couldn't I just do what u suggested? I guess because you need to buy this? -

thank you for the response I will go there pretty soon so when you say it will be easier and safer for them to do the typical full backup that means that they will back up everything correct because if that's the case yes I would prefer that.
At first I had thought to ask just copy and transfer of my downloads my music and my video files and my documents but what you're suggesting is everything it will be copied and fully backed up as if you did it yourself before the computer went bad right? So they are doin exactly what most ppl do in case laptop goes bad? Of course if hard drive goes bad then what would be option. Basically the hard drive would still be usuable on another computer or not? This is a 250gb ssd. -
Hey guys went To the computer repair shop but the technician is still working on the laptop. they did show show me my SSD hard drive the took out and I have to come back tomorrow. the thing is I wanted to know if I get the SSD hard drive I still need to buy that thing someone mentioned earlier if I want to connect it to any sort of laptop right? Sorry for asking this again if I did but I'm so frustrated right now.
I am browsing and typing everything on my iPhone 4s and it's very frustrating because my iPhone is laggig so much as well and I'm not used to making forum posts on an iPhone. -

Thanks. But them transferring my backup to an external hard drive would be good enough if I only need to access my documents right?
One other thing. Assuming my sager battery went bad as 0 percent charge and only way to use laptop is plugged in, that should have had no effect on why my laptop doesn't turn on right?
Such that he wouldn't tell me battery holds no charge so that's why it being plugged in charging doesn't turn it on? My Asus laptop battery holds no charge but when plugged in with charger it works even though battery shows 0 percent. And excuse me for asking a lot of question. Thanks -

I came back from the computer repair shop and they could not power my laptop on they tell me that means the motherboard is broken. I asked them to copy to my external hard drive and they asked me what and I mentioned my document folder and download folder. So they didn't mention backup everything so is that s normal? I'm curios when you ask them backup documents do they ask which ones or just do everything?
The thing is since my laptop doesn't work anymore it's better to get the laptop back with the SSD hard drive separately correct ? because that's what I asked him after they copy my documents and download folder to my external hard drive.
Also I assume zero point of buying a new motherboard and have it repaired since it cost as much as a new computer?
Also this means 0 point of bringing this laptop to another repair shop right? This is one of the better computer places where I'm located. Is it worth going to another repair shop in the us to have this looked at? I have to go back to us since I need new laptop because laptops where I'm located are not good.
Also is it possible for you to tell me the name of the product you posted above this where I can buy the thing that connects s internal hard drive to a computer so I could type it on Amazon? I will buy anything electronic on Amazon and my iPhone lags so much when clicking links.
I'm very frustrated now. -

will be most likely buying it on amazon. -
another question. Once i buy a new laptop. I can then bring my new laptop to repair shop and ask them to transfer every single thing to the new laptop right? The other thing is couldn't i ask them to just switch the hard drives? Because if i do that, wouldn't the new laptop start programs and everything just like my sager laptop? I assume you don't have to register windows or you do? However is that risky since the hard drive in the sager could possibly be bad and could make this new laptop break?
I also have another asus laptop that has tons of issues where repair shop couldnt fix. First off, keyboard doesn't work. Monitor needs screen replacement and need new battery but battery is the last issue since plugged in works fine. But couldn't i just wipe that ssd hard drive and use that for new computer assuming the new computer doesn't have an SSD? However, could my ssd be damaged in my asus computer so putting it into the new laptop might do damage to the new laptop?
Thanks... -
hey guys would any of these 2 work? Does it matter if one is 7.99, other is 9.99 and other is 12.99? Also some are usb 2.0, others are usb 3.0.
So does that mean it wont be compatible if i get a 2.0 one and use it on a laptop that is 3.0 and vice versa? But a 2.0 will work on a 3.0? So get a 3.0? Im buying it tomorrow through amazon and need to know exactly which one as i need all these items asap. -

It does not matter if its USB2 or USB3. It will only run as fast as you laptop was designed to.Dannemand likes this. -
Hi i did not know this. Okay so i purchased a dell laptop online. Its an xps. Hard drive is a 1tb 5400rpm and a 32gb ssd. I haven't received it yet. I will be planning to use one of my my ssds. I also bought one of those enclosures so i can connect it to my desktop at the moment to see what i can transfer to my desktop. This desktop is a temporary computer so i then will transfer to another external drive.
First off, can you tell me what happens when i plug my ssd in my sager laptop into this enclosure and put it into my desktop? Basically it will load everything exactly like on my sager before it stopped working? Or would it just load it like an external hard drive where you only see the programs and files etc? I bought this online because i figure hey i can probably move files to my desktop then to my external. Then with external move some of it to the new laptop which uses the sager hard drive. Is that good? Because i figure if i didn't buy the enclosure then when i go to repair shop with my new laptop, then give them my sager ssd, they would just put it into my new laptop and then everything will start from now and everything in it will be wiped right? In another forum they told me when you put an ssd into a new computer, you are basically wiping everything? But only if you delete the partitions? You would suggest that right? Also i assume its not possible to put the sager ssd in a new computer, then after installation, then i have every single thing in my old sager?
Also for someone like me, you definitely suggest i go to a repair shop to do this right since i will be putting an old ssd in? Thus if this new laptop was configured with everything such as an ssd etc... then i could easily setup windows myself since the process is very simple. Thoughts on this? I will be getting enclosure today and the laptop tomorrow. -

Hi thanks. I received the enclosure
https://www.amazon.com/Tool-free-In...00JQTO8TU/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
However, i noticed something that i had not noticed. My samsung ssds... the one that is the sager one that i want to put on the new computer, Its attached to this metal thing like a piece of metal. On the top left of it, theres like a little screw etc thats stuck to it. I cannot put my samsung evo pro into the enclosure. The other samsung ssd pro i can since its just the ssd.
Can someone tell me why my ssd looks like this? Its attached to something that I cannot pull it out of. Basically you can slip the part of the ssd into the slot but it cannot go in because theres a piece of metal thing attached to it. Does anyone know what im talking about? I can take a picture of it if you guys like. But i cannot put it into the enclosure because of this thing. Theres also like a piece of small sticker attached to it. Does anyone know what this is? I cant even test my enclosure/sdd because of this. On the back however, there are 2 screws stuck to it so that means i can unscrew it and then put it in the enclosure. But i want to know 100 percent what is this thing first before i do anything. I know for sure no ssd has anything attached to it like this so im wondering why theres a piece of metal attached to it. -

It would be.better to post a picture of it but just guessing here it sounds like a hdd caddy of sorts that holds your SSD in the old laptop.
