    hey,

Im not an expert on sager, but most likely one of your components fried due to overheating. Most laptops dont actually like being left with the lid closed as the keyboard area is used to dissipate heat as well. If the lid is closed, that heat stays cannot escape causing the laptop to overheat.

Additionally, you mentioned that your laptop is old. It might also be that your air vents are clogged up which degrades the cooling performance and causes higher temps.

My guess is that either the GPU got fried or the motherboard. If you know somebody with a similar system you may swap the gfx card to ensure which part it is. If it turns out to be the graphics card, you may have luck baking your card in the oven (no Im not joking).

The best course of action would be to contact sager support of the laptop is still on warranty.

Mine died a half year ago (I left it on, sitting on a leather couch for a day... opps), well a few months ago I figure I had nothing to lose trying to fix it, so I took it apart, and did the video card oven bake, put it back together and it runs like a dream again. I love this laptop, and this time I have it sit on a laptop cooler (name is escaping me now, but it's the one that everyone recommends). Laptop stay ambient even with the turbo fan button off. Hope this all helps. I'd buy it for parts if not :)
