Is it worth the wait for the M570TU? I believe this is due in May?

The M570TU is the same chassis, it just has a new Montevina platform, HDMI, and e-SATA.

It will probably not ship until mid-summer.

Gophn, let me jump off the 570 and onto the 9262... do you see any enhancements technical or design-wise in the future that would cause you to wait in purchasing a 9262 now?

the D900C (Sager 9262) does not seem to get any new hardware... only software/BIOS updates to support Penryn CPUs.

With all due respect, is that on the basis of knowledge and/or good authority (NDAs be d**ned :D ), or just educated guesswork on your part based on your long experience and knowledge?

I say with high certainty, that when the Clevo M570TU with Montevina ships, it will phase out the M570RU w/ Santa Rosa. (EX. Sager 5793 might become 5794)

So the vendors/resellers will not get the chance to really make the previous ones that much cheaper.

There might be some deals to clear the small stock when the M570TU is available, but I would not count on the pricing to be too hot.

Will the NP5793 be upgradable to the NP5794?

    upgradeable? ... as it what?

    - the hardware: the motherboard and chassis will be slightly different to accommodate the new chipset and CPU, as well as the HDMI and e-SATA
Note: the main similarity from the M570RU to the M570TU the chassis (for the most part, other than the two output ports) and the MXM Type IV slot.

    - if you are referring to the upgrade/swap for the new unit through the vendor... then it will be at the vendors' discretion. However, most of the resellers/vendors would give you a upgrade promotion to send in your previous RU unit for the TU unit with an cost difference.... but its up to them in the end.

As far as we know at the moment, you cannot upgrade the parts from a RU to the TU... except the standardized parts (like wifi-card, tv tuner, videocard, etc..).

I mean if you will be able to upgrade the NP5793 to the NP5794 by switching just the motherboard and the chassis, then use all the old parts from the NP5793 with the new motherboard and chassis. It would be a lot cheaper than buying a whole new laptop...

that is technically getting a new notebook.

    the chassis = case
the motherboard = 90% of the inside

so whats left... the LCD and its casing. LOL. :)

So sure, if you swap the motherboard and case, then it would work. :D
