My np8662 arrived yesterday, and I couldn't be more happier :)

But.. every 40 second or so the sound get's "distorted" for a split second. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate as my 2nd OS (dual boot - linux primary), I haven't tried it on my linux build yet (alsa) so i'm not sure if it's driver related or not.

I've had issues like this before on a realtek chipset.

Tried using standard w7 drivers = sound distorted after x seconds while watching youtube/flash videos

Tried using recent realtek "Vista_Win7_R235" (realteks website) drivers = sound distorted after x seconds while watching youtube/flash videos

But I don't have these issues while i'm gaming.

    Any ideas?

If you've swapped drivers, then my inclination would be flash or your browser. Try multiple browsers first, then change flash version (upgrade, or remove it and downgrade).

Thanks for you reply, but it didn't work. Alas i'm having the same stuttering/distortion for a split second while i'm gaming and watching a movie. I've tried realteks most recent drivers+drivers from sagers website

So now it comes up while you're gaming and while watching movies..

Explain "movie".. an mpg/avi/etc.. or DVD or Blu-ray?

Have you experienced this both with speakers and headphones?

Just trying to rule out hardware issues before getting too dirty.

Also, are you doing all of this while plugged in, or is this when using the battery?

Yeah it doesn't matter what choice of format, movies (mkv, avi, dvd) or gaming etc.

Apparently i'm not alone: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=422323

    ^^^very interesting

I've tried creatives external soundcards and they are even worse on windows 7, especially x-fi go.

Thanks for taking your time trying to help me sir, much appreciated.

I've used external usb soundcards before, they kinda get in the way if you know what I mean "Mobility".

No battery at all, i'm using my sager 8662 as a complete desktop replacement.

    Have a good evening

Hrmm.. Interesting. Here's some random stuff I would try..

Disable the eSata port (should be in the bios)
    Disable bluetooth
Disable the wireless nic. (just device mananger, no need to do it in the bios)

I'd try those one at a time and then watch for the sound to skip after each change.

I think the external sound card would probably fix the problem, but it's not really "fixing the problem" if you know what I mean.
