    Okay,
So I've had this thing for a little over 3 years now. Bought it when it first came out. Just replaced the 260m GPU with a 9800 as that had died. Took out the CDROM and put in a SSD and everything seemed great until the power started to die on me and I had to wiggle the power connector to get it working and eventually it just stopped. Took it to a repair guy and he said that the power coming out is good and everything so it's the motherboard, and apparently there's a stain on it so he thinks it's bad. Reading some stuff on here that's probably true. I don't have much money to spend so I'm not sure what to do.
Buy a $400-$500 motherboard and have someone install it if that's even possible, etc, or just buy a new laptop and part mine out. Which is probably the best bet.
So... does anyone need anything from this laptop or have a motherboard for this one for a reasonable price? I'm tempted to go the desktop route but then there's buying a 32" monitor which is a MUST to justify getting a desktop :D

    Oh and the CPU is a IntelĀ® P9600 45nm "Montevina" C Duo 2.

if the mobo is defo dead then selling for parts is the best bet. and you are on to a winner as there are still people looking for the 9800GT (or is yours the GTS) which are very hard to come by now.

    OVERCLOCKED Alienware Area-51 m15x Nvidia 9800m GT 512mb DDR3 MXM 2.1
    works in my Sager.
What all do you part out with this thing? RAM, DVDROM, GPU, CPU, and screen individually, then try to sell the chassis? I'm guessing parting it out and putting it on ebay would give the greatest return?
