Hello, i'm going to buy my first gaming laptop, i was considering for sager NP9150 but my parents doubt it because have never heard it, even clevo, and frankly the first time i hear this brand is when i was looking for gaming laptop, can anyone share their experience with this model, is it bulky because i usually stick with 11 inch laptop, or else i aim for 6110 that mini beast and my budget is around 1500$, i live in indonesia so i am going to buy it at pemmz, my parents won't let me buy online so pemmz is the choice.

Also, is the 4 GB SSD worth? what is it used for (still newbie) for only 4gb? how to use it?

    Thank you

    welcome to nbr

the 9150/P150 is a great laptop (same as one ive got in sig below)

we can all understand when parents are hesitant of spending a lot of money on a laptop theve never heard of.
clevo > CLEVO are a bespoke supplier that supplys to resellers around the world who then rename them to their own model numbers. they are customizable to your liking compared to buying a ready made laptop that just sits on a shelf until someone buys it. these laptops are built for you.

im in the uk and have never heard of pemmz, have you got a link.
to be honest i think it would be much safer to look at xoticpc or prostar. you can find many happy customers in the resellers feedback thread > Sager Reseller and Clevo Reseller Forum, Sager Laptops

also if you were thinking of the 11" beast im also thinking of getting one of them as they are great for plane journeys compared to the bigger 15"

Thank you, MrDJ for the fast response

I live in Indonesia so I can't really go to xotic PC store or similar to that, and pemmz is one of the best reseller here beside enterkomputer, if you can, can you help me choosing at SAGER OEM Xenom NP9150 CUSTOM (built on Clevo P150EM featuring GeForce GTX670M 1.5GB GDDR5, Available in GTX675M 2GB GDDR5 , AMD 7970 2GB GDDR5, and GeForce GTX680M 2GB GDDR5) Pemmz Gaming Laptop

1 USD is around Rp9,500 but just assume it Rp10,000

I Would like to keep it under Rp16,000,000 I'm not going to play online like D3 or Guild Wars 2, for online I just need to watch Youtube and surfing but the will intel advance or bigfoot killer affect much? Which does more affect speed, the internet provider or the wireless card?

For the game I play Metro 2033, Skyrim, Fallout, Far Cry 3, etc.
Hopes that help to gives me advise.

2 things, one with the 4gb ssd which I didn't see anyone answer about...if you talking about a 500gb with 4gb ssd for example it can provide a slightly faster boot then a regular standard 500gb hdd (reg may take 50 sec to boot, hdd with ssd could take 40-45sec or maybe lower)....at least thats what I read about and doing a quick google search has shown...in regards to the wireless card....network provider is a big part of your speed...the card itself deals with range of your router, better card, better range, and the speeds at which it can get your laptop at. When I was buying my clevo p150em I opted for the intel 6300...

When I was buying my clevo p150em which I had got last year and plan on trying to sell but, i opted for the intel 6300. Overall though, the laptop is really powerful for what I had in it, ran with a 675m and i7 2760qm....perfect first gaming laptop to get in my opinion since its well built

How the hybrid hard drives work is they will learn after a few boot ups what you like to start up everytime you start up your computer. Most people tend to use the same programs each time. The hard drive has its own algorithm to learn this. Then it will take those program start up files including Windows start up files and place them in the SSD portion automatically so they can be accessed much faster because of the SSD speeds. I used to have one of those before I went full SSD and could see a difference between a regular HDD.

It will only increase your speeds for within your network transfer as long as your router can go up that fast. It wont increase your internet connection speeds though. Most peoples home connection is 7-15Mb/s so getting a wireless card that can trasfer up to 450Mb/s wont help becuase you're limited to the slowest part which is your home internet speed.

Just to chime in again too, and a quick note I got my laptop from xoticpc...good place to get laptops from...but a better wireless card gives you that option for increased speeds if your network would get better (if your parents or you decided to upgrade if you could). Most importantly, my decision to get the intel 6300 came from the deal I was looking at it was like 10 bucks more than the base cards due to a sale I think at the time, and the fact you have increased range for your wireless signal.....getting a good router is key too but a good wireless card helped me out.

You may just be best with a standard base network card....ethernet cables connecting to your router will give you the most reliable link but if its

Post got cut off at end but if its not breaking your budget and you have other areas you wanted to upgrade like the cpu or gpu up first, spending a lil extra on your network card isn't a bad thing...

Hutsady tackled those questions spot on, Kevan. :)

Also, if you're looking for something a little more on the lightweight side and you are still considering a Clevo, be sure to look at the W110ER. It is not as powerful as the np9150 you are considering, but it will be smaller and weigh less.

As for dependability (you mentioned that in your first post, I think), I find Clevo/Sager to generally be more reliable than many other well known brands. Marketing does not equate to dependability. :)

totally agree with ProStar on that one.
its a 11" beauty. was gobsmacked when i saw it and had a play with crysis 3 on it and it ran very smoothly. i am seriously considering to get one of those (that was until i ended up buying 3 vip one direction concert tickets at the weekend for my god daughter) they cost more than the laptop. time to start saving again :(

    Spec I was considering :
    i7 3610qm
    8 GB Ram DDR3 1600 MHz
    GTX 670m 1.5 GB
    500GB 7200 RPM
    Internal 802.11 B+G+N Wireless LAN + Bluetooth
    15,6" HD
    8X DVD R/RW/4X
    Standard Thermal Compound
    DOS

This actually a bit surpass my budget so how about downgrade it to i5 3210m and upgrade to GTX 670MX, opinion?

And i am interested in 6110 but is it powerful enough for Crysis 3 or such as?

670MX will run Crysis 3 with an i5, although you would see some improvement with an i7. But no, I'm afraid the W110ER/np6110 is not quite powerful enough to run Crysis 3 (at least not on high+ settings; perhaps medium to medium-high settings).

me played crysis 3 on it at the gadget show in uk and it played perfectly but as prostar said its not on highest settings. blimey not even my P150 can play it with everything maxed out. i didnt notice much difference in gameplay but i have no interest in how many frames per second i get.

Hmm, i think i land my choice on Sager 6110, since i don't think i will need so powerful gameplay and i think i'm okay with medium settings and why should i spend more to only satisfy not necessary need since it's my parents' money.

BTW, thank you very much for the all answers, it really help me out! I may buy it next Saturday, hope it serve me well.

If you're set on the NP6110 you better snatch it up if you can find it. I know Sager has now phased it out and are all sold out, and I've heard it will not be refreshed by Clevo.

We are also sold out of the W110ER. I think our last unit was bought a day or two ago.

Oh so damn thing, my parents really dislike Clevo and Sager, it's not well-known, they said "If it's not famous, then it's bad product."

So i turn to Asus G46VW, they would spend extra bucks to guarantee the quality although they prefer Apple but i don't want apple, so here's what i will get :
    i7 3630qm
    Intel HM77 Chipset
    Windows 8
    Nvidia Geforce GTX 660m 2GB GDDR5 VRAM
    14" HDD (1366x768)
    8GB RAM DDR3 1600 MHz
    1TB HDD
    Ext DVD

1480$ What do you guys think?
I was really grateful to have such parents although i was really mad for 5 minutes and i realized they weren't mind to spend if it's needed :)

Glad to hear you got decided on a computer. For something portable and still capable of gaming the G46 are a good choice.

It's too bad your parents have that view towards non mainstream brands. You should tell them Sager are more of a specialty brand that mainly people who want the most customizations know of.
Ask if they've heard of Bowers & Wilkins or Sterns & Fosters. Those are just a couple other brands that arent mainstream but some of the best you can get in their fields.

over the many years of laptops ive owned im now on my second clevo and wont buy anything else.

also for many years my hospital has always bought dell laptops. that is until they saw my clevo and have now bought a few of them for viewing CT and MRI scans as in their own words they knock the socks of the dells. so well known brands are not always the best.

good luck with your new laptop and hopefully many years of use.

    Déjà vu!

As per the consensus here: it's definitely advisable that you show your parents something along the lines of testimonials and/or reliability reports, of which include Sager/Clevo. Our RMA rate for our Clevo units is lower than that of the other brands we sell, all of which are good. It just goes to show you that marketing is not synonymous with construction quality and quality assurance.

yeah, i can't really argue with them, they just keep bombering me and when i said something like "it isn't really well-known but it has the..." i can't continue it, they keep declining and when i tried to show some review & report they don't want to trust it, and they never see that brand used by their gadget lovers in office and also in my and my brother's school, nobody use it.

But i think if they agree with asus g46, i think still okay even if it is 14 inch, i think i will be used to it since in my 11" laptop now, i oftenly mistype cuz too small. Unfortunately, my father go abroad for work today so the laptop will delay, maybe tomorrow from stores in mall (the shop i prefer is closed on sunday) or 6th of June.
