Does anyone know how a Sager np8130 with 560m 1.5g would compete with your standard g53SW-a1? I would think it would wreck the asus in terms of performance. Do Sagers overheat though? the g53SW-a1 seems like it has a pair of turbines at the back ready to blow out the fires of hell itself..

Wow.. we're even being compared to the ASUS now..

There is no competition, Sager hands down wins in cooling, form factor, warranty, screen, etc.

One thing to note is the GPU. The SW has the older GTX 460M and the 8130 has the newer GTX 560M. Although there is a smaller performance "bump" there, it is definitely worth it.

All of the new Clevo machines perform exceptionally well in cooling. The case itself never really even warms up under load. There is a trade off of fairly audible fans at max load, but that's to be expected to keep the machine cool. (Also the fact that the P150HM and P170HM can be outfitted with 100w graphics cards like the 485m/580m/6990).

There are tons of good threads out there if you're interested though:

You will find too that for upgrading, and in general doing any work on the machine, that the SAGER it is much easier for a end-user. :)

Ok, I've decided to go with the sager, it's hands down amazing. Any necessary upgrades I should go for? Is it worth taking the i7 up from the 2630QM to the 2670QM for an extra 50$? Is there a significant functional difference between 4 SODIMMS and 2 which total 8GB?

The difference in performance between the 2630 and 2670 is only about 10%. You'd see a much larger (25%) difference if you were to bump to the 2760QM. If you only plan to game on the machine, the 2630 is more than enough though. Games will GPU limited long before the CPU becomes an issue.

For the RAM, there won't be a performance difference of note between using 2 or 4. The main difference is in upgradeability. If you go with only 2x 4GB, it leave two empty slots for upgrade. If instead you use 4x 2GB, it fills all the slots which requires removing RAM to upgrade later.

The sager is also significantly smaller. I didn't think so at first, but when I compared my 8150 to my buddy's g53-jw, the g53 looked like a monstrosity!
