    Hey guys,

just wanted to know if there's another way to increase the screen brightness other then using the fn+f9 key? My keyboard's messed up and my f9 key happens to be one of the keys that aren't working...

I have the np5793... if it helps.

    thanks!

You can control the brightness by using Windows Mobility Center, located under "Start Menu > Programs > Accessories > Windows Mobility Center"

    Or
    Run
    "mblctr.exe /open"

This may require you to have the "Hotkey" software installed, I have not tested it without.

    Not on the 579x (M57xRU) you can't.

Unfortunately the M570RU was one of the last models that had hardcoded KBC code for the fn key functions, and there is no way to change brightness without the keyboard.

Your reseller will be able to supply you with a new keyboard if you need one, or try ebay. It is the same keyboard as the D901C uses.

dang it. i do have one more question though. the '3' key on the board is shot too. when i type it nothing comes out. but when I do a fn+3 to lower the fans, it'll work. what's up with that?

That is rather strange. Have you tried re-seating the keyboard cable? Look at the service manual in my sig - it really is very easy, remove kbd, unplug cable, replug cable, replace kbd.

Did anything happen to your kbd, or did it just stop working properly?
