Hey all, i just noticed a small 1 inch type blemish in the middleish of my 8690s screen, id call it a bruise but its lighter than everything else...only really noticeable when theres a dark back ground, and pretty much unnoticeable in games, i only saw it bc i did indeed have a black back ground. Is this from damage or just standard fair, never seen it before. Better than a stuck pixle!

I've seen this before as well. I cannot tell you the cause, but I assumed damage caused by a bump (just like a real bruise).

ahh, shame....its pretty much a perfect screen aside from a red stuck pixle thats on 20% of the time in the corner, i wounder if this is worth a RMA? it cant be see in game, just on a black back ground. What do you guys think?

I have seen what you are describing although I have never heard it called a bruise, but that is a perfect name. The blemish is caused by the displacement of the liquid crystal layer of the screen. most likely one of the other layers are dented and not returning to its original form.

I have seen this happen when someone unknowingly set an LCD monitor face down on a stapler and when we turned it back on it had the spot lighter then the rest of the screen just as you described.

I do not beleive there is anyway to repair this other than to have the screen replaced.

ya thats right, i recon i'll live with it, much better than a stuck pixle...in games its no problem at all, just a black or grey back ground. I dont even know if it would count as being RMAable?

I used to see it when laptop screens would bump into the keyboard, or when people closed their screen with something on the keyboard.

And I do not know of a way to fix it either, sadly.

And it's still new? I would think you have good cause for an RMA. They can get finicky with a single dead pixel, but this is a damaged screen.

That said, it's really not something that would bother me. I had an old sager that had such a bruise for years and I only noticed it when I was looking for it.

Maybe it's a reason to buy a new (and better) screen on ebay?

For that much, I think you should expect them to come and fix it at your home.
