    Hi
I have up untill now been very happy with my screen which has vivid colors and is very clear etc, however i just played some avi movies through hdmi to my sony bravia lcd and noticed the quality of video playback through the bravia looked so much clearer, had better colors and looked more sharp and when looking at the same thing on the laptop screen i can see a horizontal line moving from the bottom to the top of the video playback but only in the window of the video.
I found the same with dvd playback, but gaming looks perfect and exactly the same on both screens and when viewing pictures the color and clarity look better on the laptop screen.
this is very strange has anyone got any ideas what this lack of video quality on this screen might be from?

    Thanks

If you are talking about the Radeon HD7970M on your personal specs there, it will be completely dependent on the monitor not the video output. If the monitor supports a higher screen res, than the Bravia will naturally a better image quality.

    laptop screen is CHI MEI N173HGE-L21 REV.C1 17.3" running at 1920x1080 60hz and sony bravia is 32inch 1920x1080 @ 60hz

i called support and they seem to think its not hardware related however i have tried some different resolutions and refresh rates and softwares but still have the same problem

Are you display mirroring/cloning? Depending on how the video playback app was coded, it might only do full processing or GPU acceleration on the primary display. Do videos look bad if you unplug the Bravia or set your internal display to be the primary?
