this is what I am going for its my absolute max budget. I was going to getthe hd7970 but that Enduro problem turned me off
I find amazing though that all sites I looked at still advertise the enduro amd combo THAT OBVIOUSLY does not work.
from a consummer point of view its border dishonest.![]()
I am actually wondering what would happen if a consumer took the reseller/builder to court on the basis that they had full knowledge the product sold would not function as advertised and failed to inform the customer properly of the shortcoming of the given configuration,.
-
No point getting ic diamond, u r better off ordering a tube of it from ebay and do it yourself, since the reseller does a crappy job
-
Unless you do photo editing, I would get the base matte, from what I heard you won't see a big difference in games. http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/674980-why-high-gamut-screens-not-suited-gamers.html
I wouldn't get the extra battery either, just get a new one when yours is getting bad. As for the extra power supply.. why?
@Silverfern Pretty sure pasting is done by Sager themselves, but I can't confirm if they do a good job. -
Some resellers actually do a decent job with pasting, like mine
This is a great option by resellers if you're uncomfortable opening and taking the hs+fan out of your laptop.
Please please please don't get the extra battery as both will die at the same time, battery's degrade over time at about the same rate.
Why the extra power supply for?
Wireless card doesn't make much of a difference.
Seeing as you're talking a lot about the Enduro problem, you will be gaming a lot. High Gamut screens don't make a difference in gaming, get a regular gamut screen. My friend regrets paying $100 for the 90% gamut when he could have gotten a larger SSD.
Get an SSD with the money saved for your main drive instead of XT.
I wanted to get all the extra's too, I was young and Naive, then NBR opened my eyes. You buy an SSD now and you will NEVER look back and nothing else will matter, everything will be lightening fast.
Welcome to NBR bytheby. -
the extra power supply isnt completely useless. I have had my powersupply broken before on other laptops, and its annoying and expensive to replace when you suddenly needs one
-
I agree with extra power supply.
One in bag, one at home. -
problem is i dont think many stores carry 180W power supplies, thus if yours break, it be a while until you can use your laptop
-
don't even know why the pasting shows extra battery ..
thanks for thre tip on screen I am going to downgrade to normal screen
I ll have anoyher look at the SSD but its pricey, I dunno If I can really splash the extra cash.
Apparently I read review on that wireless adpter lowers ping substancialy
or is it just a myth?
thanks -
i got a 128GB vertex 4 and its crazily fast, when i load windows, it doesnt even need to wait for the microsoft logo to finish drawing itself before it skips to the next welcome page
-
-
taking screen option out , wireless adpter std instead of killer and its roughly the same price. -

I am in australia I am buying from a reseller here, unless I can get saving from ordering in US but looking at $ parity I am doubtful
Freight + duty +local tax might not save nme much at all -
you can always add it (or better) later, but the killer 1103 is a solid upgrade too particularly on the 5GHz band.

+ Diamond Thermal Compound applied to processor and graphics card
+ Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with DVD and drivers (A$99.00)
+ Nvidia GTX 680M 4GB GDDR5 video graphics (A$499.00) <----- Ouch
+ 15.6" FHD 1920x1080 LED/LCD screen Gloss
+ i7-3610QM Ivy Bridge CPU 2.3GHz up to 3.3GHz
+ 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM (4 x 4GB)
+ 40GB Intel mSATA SSD (configured as primary) (A$149.00)--- How does this option compare with just standard 7200Rpm and ssd?
+ Primary drive 750GB 7200 rpm HDD ------------------------------
+ Dual Layer DVD+/-R/W optical drive
+ HDD caddy for optical drive - not required
+ Bigfoot Killer 1103N WiFi only (A$127.00)
+ Spare AC adaptor - not required
+ Spare 8-cell battery - not required
+ USB Digital TV Tuner - not required
+ Metabox 1st year Onsite pick up and return warranty
+ Bonus Carry Bag with your order
+ HD Web Cam, Mic, 2 x Onkyo speakers, subwoofer, THX TruStudio Pro
+ 3 x USB 3.0 ports (eSATA), 1 x USB 2.0, Firewire, Card reader
+ HDMI, DVI-I, VGA, Display port 1.1a, S/PDIF output, Fingerprint reader
+ Colour backlit keyboard, Ethernet, AC Adaptor 220W, 8-cell battery
If it says used as primary wouldnt that mean Window is tored on that 40g ssd?40gb is an example Id go higher at least 80gb
Or If I wait win8 and And new radeon enduro to work I can then spend extra 300$ on SSD -
If i understand well your also in Australia. I recently purchased my P150EM from a local reseller (P4 laptops) after extensive consideration of importing from the US. I found that the prices were equivalent after import taxes were put into the cost, and i would loose out on the warranty, because id have to pay for shipping the laptop to the US whenever there was a fault. Thats quite costly.
$499 is extremely steep for the 680m, id say look at another reseller. Once youve made your decision on reseller and configuration, ask them whats the best deal they can offer on your config of the laptop and theyll beat the online price for sure. -
I would go radeon in a heartbeat as it saves me 300$ but alas it doent work and sheling AU$ 2250 for a machine that won't perform V $2550 for a config that works for sure is a no brainer
so either I wait for amd to release drivers or i bite the bullet on gtx680
I also have the option to wait win8 release mid actober and see if aaamd as released functional solution by then
I am not quite sure what to do -
Possibly if you wait, some prices on components might decrease, so you might save some money there, though i dont know whether the price of Win 8 will be equivalent to Win 7. As for AMD releasing a working driver, to me thats gonna be tough to see considering their history with poor driver support ive read in many places.

One thing you might want to check is matte vs glossy screen. Verify your lighting condition, in which environment you're going to play, etc. If you do decide to go with a matte, the base upgrade (I do hope you have more matte options than the 95% Gamut
) will do just fine.
What are your other options for wireless cards? I know you're in Australia, but even then, $127 seems pretty damn expensive considering I can buy it for $60 in Canada.
I have no experience with it myself, but I heard people not recommending mSata, as it's more expensive and performs less than a regular SSD. You seem to want a DVD reader, so here's your options :
- Put an SSD in primary and the 750GB in the optical drive and buy an external USB DVD reader
- No SSD, just get a primary 750GB or the hybrid 500GB (not sure about the hybrid, but might be a good compromise)
- Buy a NP9170 (17 inches screen) instead, it has a slot for 2 hard drives + a DVD reader.
Finally, which game are you going to play? I only tried Skyrim, but I had no problem with Enduro. And this article is encouraging : AnandTech - AMD
You could also wait a couple months and see how it goes with AMD. -
i got the 500GB hybrid drive to go with the SSD i bought myself, goes well. 40GB is small, but i guess enough for a boot drive
-
I read that msata as primary config is almost as fast as ssd and again motivation is price V storage space 128gbis just too smal for my usel.
I will use laptop for work as well I run solidworks and have presentation CDs and documentations I use when traveling an external cd isnt a good look in conference rooms .
Network adaptor available
INtel N6230 $29
Intel N6235 $39
intel n6300 is $99
Games I play Aion and Gw2 -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
-
so I go 256Gg ssd instead msata price diff is like 40$ no biggy
now My last decision comes down to GPU I am really uncomfortable with the $300 extra for 680M wich is marginaly better that 7970 if it was working as intended
decision decision -
I hope Clevo would consider changing the mSATA interface into SATA III in the future. Hopefully, in the nearest possible time they can do so. As this would pave the way for the mSATA drives to become cheaper sooner and for all of us to benefit from this later on. -
