Over what? A 2670QM? Its about a $150-200 upgrade and will in reality give you no appreciable real world differences in typical tasks and programs performancewise. Just make sure you do upgrade to the 6990m or 580m video card. If after that you have an extra $150 or so to blow and you have all your other options chosen, then by all means upgrade the CPU.

If you are gaming, even the basic quad will do the job for you.

Save the money for an SSD instead, there is no need to get a 2760.

Upgrading to the 2760QM will help but it should be last on your list of components to upgrade. If you have one of the top GPU's (6990M/580M), SSD, good RAM, Wireless card upgrade, etc and you still have money in your budget left over then upgrade the CPU. The i7 2670QM is probably all you'll need for gaming, the 2760QM will help a tad but not enough to prioritize upgrading it.

SSD all the way, the 2760QM is a good upgrade and is on par with the 2920XM but it will never be worth doing in place of an SSD or over a 2670QM.

The only reason I went for it was because it was on a deal and was only about £20 more to upgrade and the couple of 100mhz jump was worth doing.
