While I cannot personally attest to running the game on a 6990m you really should have no problem playing the witcher 2 with a 6990m. One thing that I have read though is that you might have to disable Ubersampling in order to play the game smoothly on the ultra settings.

Also, I found this post in which other members state in the first page that the 6990m runs the witcher 2 quite well.

Oh and just throwing this out there, I was able to test out the game successfully on a 4-5 year old gpu (8700m) and could run the game smoothly during combat and exploration on low settings with only a slight mouse delay while navigating menus so in all likelihood you should be alright with that gpu!

    Hope this helps!

The 6990m is the top of the line card from AMD right now. It should play any game currently on the market without any problems.

The 6990M should have no problems running Witcher 2, although as stated above you'll probably have to take off Ubersampling and maybe make a couple of other adjustments to get the performance that you want.

I am able to run Withcer 2 without any problems at very playable frame-rates on my laptop with a slight OC (800MHz core/1000MHz memory) on Ultra settings. I believe I also have AA disabled as it isn't necessary @ 1080p.

I play it on ultra, without ubersampling, but turn down the resolution to like 1600x900 for fully smooth game play. Any lag on "dark" difficulty is almost assuredly a death sentence.
Perhaps I should try high graphics settings @1080p for the full screen experience instead of ultra@1600, but really I don't mind the lower resolution in a "windowed" mode so I can see if some messages me. It's totally possible to spend too much time on that game if you don't pay attention. :p

I just ran a fraps test with it. In the forest area, and in the first town, the lowest it dropped to (1600x900, everything ultra sans ubersampling) was 35 fps, but it usually was mid 40's to mid 50's. I was running with catalyst 12.2 and overdrive turned on. Very smooth for an RPG of that kind. The only games you'd need more frames really is for an FPS. Also, if you run it at full HD, I doubt it'd have that much of an impact on the frames.
