How is the size of it compare to dell m1730? also the their power bricks?
would be nice if someone can post some pictures of both of them side by side.![]()
-
The Dell XPS1730 is only comparable to the Sager NP9262 and the 9262 is about 3 lbs heavier than the 5793, not to mention much thicker!! AFAIK the Dell is even more thick than that! So, you get the idea....
-
oh boy.......i don't know if I should go for np5793 now or wait for m860tu, it kills me with whole bunch games and not able to play them
-
Actually, from a gamer's and student's standpoint, the 5793 seems ideal to me! I mean, it's got decent portability unlike the 9262 and XPS, and the same time it's 17" and awesome for gaming!
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
its about 4KG
so you get better muscles than macbook air users!!!
its not actually that much bigger than a 15", mainly becuase it has a nice thin bezel around the screen,
I can use it on my lap with my cooler, and it doesnt break my legs
I wouldnt worry about size. -
aww I hate going back to muscle machines after having a nice year with my macbook pro
-
Well, you want great power and performance. So what more do you expect ??
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
dont go being a weakling on us now, have the physique to match the notebook !!!
-
The laptop itself isn't heavy for a 17", and with what you get you can't really complain, it's a powerful machine. -
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
well thats your own fault for being fruity..........I mean buying fruity
really the 5793 (M570RU) is easy to carry around, and the big screen seems bigger than 17" because of the high res, looks amazing, its a wow monster of a notebook.
I can't sing its praises enough......yeah 15" is more compact, but will have worse heat dissipation for a start , so less straight lap useage,
I tried mine for an hour or so without the cooler, and it didnt even warm the legs.
not like my acer did -
It won`t worm the legs, but it will heat itself.
When I use it on my lap,as rare as it is, I make sure the intakes are free so they can suck up cold air. -
ive said this quite a lot already but the cooling system in this machine is pretty impressive, im sitting the laptop on top of a small cardboard box right now just to give it some breathing space... and the weight is really not a problem, and for a 17" you can't really complain about the size, full size keyboard as well... not to mention the nice glossy screen, and powerful...
-
Nirvana you want me to get you a pic size comparison of a NP5793 to a MBP? i can if ya want. One thing i will say DONT GET INTIMIDATED, yer a big guy im sure you can handle carrying this notebook around.
However i must say cooling on this thing is freakin impressive it doesnt really need a notebook cooler. Hell im still surprised Sager used a lot of copper for cooling instead of just a copper pipe! Only thing that bugs me it isnt portable as i'd like it to be yeah sure its under 10 pounds with battery and all thing that bothers me is the size of it. Still trying to get over the size factor i could store my old m15x away much easier then the NP5793.
Anyway Nirvana ill post picks asap, and you can decide from there. -
I am waiting for your pictures!!! lol
carrying the laptop alone is easy, but one thing you probably don't know is that i have to carry like 20lbs+ books in my backpack everyday. so it would be luxury for me to get rid of few pounds if possible. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
pfft when I go bowling I carry 30lbs!
1x 14lbs Ball (Legends Big Bang)
1x 15lbs Ball (Rotogrip pro)
Shoes, Ball wipes, 2 bar towels, and a pen!!!
I remember college and even without laptops the book bag was heavy enough
so i see where you are coming from, but I wouldnt want to drop performance of my gaming machine just so it was easier to carry, considering there are only a couple of lb's difference -
so i just ordered it, was going to use the cash rebate option but doesn't want to wait, plus they are running free shipping promotion today.
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
ooooh yeaaaahhh!
all I can say is ENJOY!!!
-
Congrats!
-
It`s about 8-9 pounds with the power brick included.
But you get used to it fast.I carry my nx9420 which is about 8.5 pounds total DAILY with me. At time my shoulders get soar, but hey,I`m a man,I`m not gonna cry about it -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
actually no Nirvana RUN AWAY this thing is HUUUUUGE is massive, its like a HOUSE...
(just dont want anyone to have a machine as good as min)
-
lol BOFH1971 I will take your advise seriously
I am thinking maybe I should take a picture of all my "toys" together sometime when i get home in the summer, 5 laptops, nikon d70, gas power R/C helicopter(raptor 50), full scale Dragunov SVD sniper BB rifle, and 2000 red porsche 911(yes a real one)
I don't know how much money i wasted on those stuffs. -
Holy !@#$, you have your own heli copter?
After seeing a Dell Vostro, I though that the Sager was pretty decent size wise of a 17incher, Vostros are SOOO thick. -
no its gas powered remote control heli
-
nah the one in eleron991's picture is either GT2 or GT3 I believe
-

well my collection of goodies would be kinda retro
yes there's my Laptop, my WII (as the wife paid double for it at launch)
all my classic computers, VIC20, Spectrum, ATARI2600 , AMIGAS and a ton of other bits
my Black Mazda 6, because even the base model looks cool
my record decks (soon hopefully to be replaced by fancy fancy hybrid decks)
and erm my fancy kitchen and conservatory that cost me an arm and a leg
oh and since we are on about expensive things, THE WIFE!!! -
Stay away from my cars
Right now, the avatar shows a GT, indeed.
I figure the 911 stays nicely in the garage. -

Isn't she beautiful?!
Whats that ugly grey thing? -
OMG! the second pic from the left almost gave me a heart attack lol. the sager looks like a lambo. thanks for those nice pictures.
@bigjohnsonforever, although i am getting the np5793, i still like the macbook pro design a lot. -
hey hey hey i didnt post those pics to get the MBP dissed or turn this thread into a MAC VS PC yada yada thread. I posted it strictly for size comparison and over all as like nirvana when i took these pictures. I cant help but think how much bigger the NP5793 is. Other then that i like my NP5793 just still trying to adjust to the size.
-
oh btw do you think the m15x is bigger than mbp?
-
size wise? yeah it is bigger only slightly all around though. I remember i did a size comparison with it and the MBP. Although weight wise for a 15 the m15x was a bit heavy.

By no means am I anti-Mac or anything like that. I don't even have any evidence to support such a claim considering I avoid Macs like the plague...
I do have an old 30G video iPod, and I love it.
@EdiT808: I am adjusting to the size too; its smaller than my old HP ZD8000!!! -
congrats nirvana0001!
I really love the orange.....all this ordering around these boards is tempting me to hit the checkout button, since my basket has been sitting there for weeks..Still on the fence between the 5793 and 9262...decisions decisions...I might need some help growing a pair in order to make this purchase
Finally resolved my claim with Alienware for my restocking fee, $450 bucks they were charging me.. -
Nirvana congrats!! What makes you think the cash option will slow your shipment down? I went that route.. Ordered her on Monday, had it on Friday!! Saved a little over $100! Well.. Saved?!?! No, I just bought into more options!!
I really have to stop buying toys!! -
Thank you guys!
@dozerking, it's easy decision IMO, whether you need SLI or not.
@Akakios, well I would use personal check for the cash option, that would take like extra 3 days for the check to clear lol.......3 days is a lot for this little monster -
Congrats you future sager owner dude!
Either that, or it's a really ugly and dirty, thick cloth for cleaning the Sager! -
Prasad007 i already stated that i didnt want this to be a MAC VS PC blah blah blah thread dont post things that do not relate to the subject at hand. Thanks.
-
Back on topic, I carry my 5793 to work in my backpack every day without issue. I ordered the Targus XL bag with the laptop.... hated it! Too freakin big so I went to Best Buy and got the Swiss Gear 17" laptop back pack. It's almost too small for this monster, but it's an awesome pack.
I'll throw everything I use with it in tonight and throw it on the scale and report back with weight. It's not too bad. Use it for work? Hell no! I go in early and post here and watch movies! lol Tethered with my BlackBerry, I'm totally mobile! Throw my passport in there and I'm ready to go anywhere! lol -
but the ugly thing was merely the tv remote control ( yeah its on the 3rd pic) -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
@dozerking nice to see your issues with AW were sorted out.
because asking you to pay a restocking fee for a faulty product would never have gone their way, and they know it.....
I love the mac's design btw, I just hate the GUI, sorry but its just annoying to use
shame really -
just a little progress of my order....
first...I HATE MY BANK!!!
I tried to use credit card with new shipping address, they won't let the authorization go through. well no problem, safety first since i got account information stolen a year ago. So I called them for adding a new address to my account, guess what, "the address you provided is invalid according to the United States Postal Service and cannot be changed." then how come I am receiving mails everyday? ok..chill....wire transfer wouldn't hurt....and all the sudden BOOM!! $40 handling FEE?! gosh my bank must hate me so much.
so eventually i sent my payment vis money order -
@zeemona Yeah that darn LG remote needed a camio shot.
@BOF1971 the design is great, and that MBP HD was partitioned to load vista sp1. Friend of mine uses it for gaming and he likes it. Thats the thing that trips me out on the MBP it freaking runs 2 OS's. Yes its dual bootable. Only thing that didnt make me get it was the heating issue, and i cant run crysis the way i want it to be run like how i can on my NP5793.
@Nirvana dude all that hassle that sucks, but trust me in the end it will be worth it. Oh it will be worth it! -
bigjohnsonforever Notebook Evangelist
I have solved the time-old Mac vs PC dilemma!
They can both do the exact same thing!
ROFL! They run a damn computer and what one can do that the other can't out of box; the other can do with a simple freeware download! There. Blaxx. -
btw, how do you like your's? I'm guessing your ecstatic -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
well dozerking, I have been staying up far too late playing games for the past month
its amazing, this thing runs everything great. I have so many games to play through now as well, but I keep getting drawn back to some multiplayers
TF2 and UT3
I of course need to do the UT3 campaign
finish HL2 ep2
finish portal
play though PREY
finish off Flatout 2
and all thats before I get crysis
All my games are at max settings, except the crysis demo
the machine runs ridiculously fast, especially for a notebook.
praise praise gloat gloat,
I know you will love your machine, I get excited for everyone that orders one
size of NP5793?
