i just noticed this issue with my sager. when i am playing games, currently gears of war, but also crysis, lost planet, and many others, my laptop runs them just fin. but than after 10 minutes or so i experience slowdown, everything becomes chopy. that lasts about 5 minutes and everithing comes back to normal for another 10 minutes when it starts again. it is not dependent on game or certain parts of the game. it just happens kind of randomly. anyone experiencing this too?

sounds like an overheating issue... forcing the GPU to downclock itself in order to cool down.... DUST!!! is usually the culprit.

    Which model do you have?

And have you been taking care of it like I have been saying all of this time??

Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:

    1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
    - you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
    - when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
    - OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place.. not the fridge [remember to use it occasionally 3-4 time a year to charge and discharge it].

2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
    - ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
    - RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
    - check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
    - ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating

By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years.

    _________________

So go get a flashlight and open up the panels to check for dust (you will know if you cannot see the light through the vents...

If the system is new (within a month), then you might consider to use it on a trusted surface (clean, flat... or a notebook cooler).... NEVER on a bed or lap.
... and maybe you need to check if the heatsink is secured down... or needs a re-application of thermal compound.
