I think the cooling system of 570x is able to hold up SLI 9800m gtx lol, consider how "loud" it is.

I think we are over estimating the 9800GTX.If it's a shrink of 8800GTX,it should be cooler and needs less power and so should run well.

Wait till a week before making drastic decisions.

well intel did say that some select centrino 2 configs would be released on schedule (only the main volume shipments would be delayed), so it's possible PCMW/Clevo got in on that special hookup

I believe the 9800GTX can still work on the m860tu. Isn't supposed to be smaller and run cooler?

Therefore, it should run just fine. Even if PCMW has to modify it, I have no problem with that.

The 860 had a late August wait for the 9800GTX to be available on the laptop. Will the 570 have a late august wait? Or will it be shipped out June 14th?

Also is quad supported on the 570?

you probably wont have to wait long for the m570TU because when its released so will the montevina and PCMW says July 31st for the 9800GTX obviously this could be wrong but its all we've got to go on. So I don't think you'd be without laptop for too long.

Sager will launch both the NP8660 (M860TU) and the NP579x (M570TU) at the same time as the initial Montevina launch the week of July 14th.

To clarify what GRB said in post #9 above, Intel did not say some of the platform would be launched "on time".

What they said is laptops using the PM45 chipset and the Montevina processors can begin to be advertised and orders taken the week of July 14th, but any laptop using the GM45 chipset or the Intel 5300 802.11 a/g/n (@300MB/s) cannot be advertised or orders taken until the week of August 4th. Further, even those being advertised beginning the week of July 14th cannot be advertised or stickered as Centrino 2 until the full platform launch on the week of August 4th.

These dates are of course still subject to change. Further updates will be provided by Intel later.

Is this your job nirvana? You post quite often. I'm sorry I don't have time to look through every page to find my answers. I'd use the search but its not that accurate (and yes, I do know how to use searches correctly).

About the release though, will quads be supported on the 570? If so, which ones (a high end chip or a line-up of quad chips)?

I think no problem, since it has better cooling systems. The first QC Mobile should be QX9300 @2.53G 12MB.

Again, the resellers will jump in and say maybe yes, maybe not, NDA,all that stuff.
The TDP fits the profile, but I think we're looking at yet another mobo upgrade...For the RUs I mean, maybe the 570TUs will natively support it.

I don´t think there will be a MB upgade for our RU users. It´s just like the upgrade from M57U to M570RU, wenn we want the MV power we should buy a new NB from them......Just guess.....

Well, looking at the pics, and chassis and all the other stuff, the TU looks too similar to the RU not to fit the profile.
Essentially added e-Sata and HDMI ports.
I'd be really pissed off if they wouldn't offer an upgrade plan,Dell does it all the time.

If they make this upgrade they must also either give a chassis exchange or make a new MB without esata & HDMI to fit our old chassis. That would cost much.....T_T

personally i think after reading more and more about nehalem i think i may skip the montevina altogether. nehalem BLOWS penryn out of the water from EARLY testing and this is done with mobo's which are still using the ich9r and are in no way tweaked for nehelam... even anandtech's new reviews shows that they are in fact nearly 40% faster clock for clock..

So what are you saying? our old mobos might be able to use Nehalem?
Cause the way I see it, for us gamers, the most important is the GPU, and being limited to the 8800M GTX is terrible.

how so? a "rework" as provided before shouldn't be much of a big deal.
Unless the TU is a totally different thing, in which case we're already screwed, but I was under the impression that the TU is build on the same thing as the RU....

As for Nehalem, 2009 ...waiting for the next best thing again :D

Will we be able to cram 9800GTX's into our 570RU-U's?

In terms of mobo's upgrading, the added HDMI and eSATA ports aren't a problem so long as everything else is the same - I've got a dremel. However, I'm really happy with my processor in the grand scheme of things, and am most concerned with just being able to squeeze the 9800gtx into this as is.

We've all seen this last year...
Quite frankly, I think RU users won't get to have the 9800M GTX inside, regardless of the hope status.
Otherwise ,who'd buy new TUs?cause most of the gamers around got the RU or D901C last year...

Paladin, if I am understanding correctly the full Centrino 2 launch will happen the week of August 4th...is this including wimax? Of course the date is tentative but I just want to make sure I am understanding that the FULL Centrino 2 platform will be launched.

Sadly no, it will not include WiMax. :(

If you want WiMax you will have to replace your 4965 or 5300 WiFi card with the new Combo WiFi/WiMax card once it is released.

The good news is swapping the cards will be easy, as long as you at least have a learner's permit with a screwdriver :)

as paladin has stated many times, it is the processors with intigrated graphics that are the ones on delay. since the laptops that we are intereste.d in use, discreet graphics cards, our laptops will hopefully be available for order on the 14 july.

Wimax wont be included as such, but they will be user upgradable when the wimax card or whatever it is, is done.

Was the hybrid graphics solution (switch between discrete and integrated for battery life) a feature of the platform or just something that some companies are doing? I'm guessing its a feature some companies are doing since not all centrino 2's were delayed... Maybe I'm mixing something up here...

    Heres a good question.
I want a 570 laptop for school. Although I want to start early (programs using 3dsmax,photoshop, cad, etc etc) in the summer so I can be used to the programs. July 31st is the new 570 with hdmi(for roomates large lcd screens, movies, games) eSATA(for my 1tb externals) and 9800 (just to know that the laptop isn't technically out dated yet =D). Is it worth it waiting until july 31 (when I leave for college mid aug) to order or just get the old revision mid june?

the release of montevina is july 13/14 and the exact release dat of both the M860tu and M570TU has not been given an exact date. i wouldnt even trust PCMW's eta on the 9800m GTX if thats where you are getting the 31st from. If you are going to be using programs like the ones that you are suggesting, then I suggest that you get a quatro card instead if games are not way too important for you.

games are important too. I was thinking about a quadro card but some games just won't run with them. Also you cant find that many resellers that provide a 3600m in my taste of laptops(1600m are nice but not my niche). Plus a 8800 card can render stuff fine.

Also I wasn't decided on pcmw, I was thinking of Xotic PC due to their reliability and options of order selection and status.

The combo WiFi/WiMax card pricing has not been set yet, nor has its release date.

However let's be hopeful that they will be at or under $50, and they will be available late in the 3rd Quarter or 4th Quarter.
