will the new wifi card be able to be used in the 570ru??
-
Really, I just want a powerful CPU since Starcraft 2, the only real game I'm looking forward to, should be pretty CPU intensive.
People said I was crazy for waiting a full year + for Nehalem, but I think I'll just stick it out with my T2300 + Go 7400 for now -
my next lappy is gonna have extreme quad core with gt280m
-
And when the next processor after nehelam is announced, and early benchmarks of 80% clock for clock comes out? Going to hold out a little longer?
-
no but a 40% gain is FAR BETTER than say a 10% gain we will most likely see with montevina
-
True. But I don't think anything will beat the performance gain I will achieve from this p4 to the montevina.
Now that is gonna be some serious culture shock. -
oh heck yeah it will be

Lol. Yea,these 2 new clevos are sure stirring up waters around. We'll have to see if they live up to expectations and if the new TU will be as noisy also...

Shyster if you got rep for posting up pictures relavent to what people say, you would own this site.
-
would it be worth it to buy a 570 soon (mid to late june) then when the quads come out, buy a quad and replace it?
-
Thanks; but, to paraphrase one of the giants of American culture (in my personal pantheon), I would never want to be a member of a site that would let me me own it

Still, don't let that dissuade you! You know where thebutton is>nudge, nudge, wink, wink<
But, to get back on-topic, aah, the age-old question, do I buy it know, and keep my fingers crossed that the next-best coming out in a few months will fit, or do I wait, and continue to put up with the computer-equivalent of a model-T? Depends on how seriously you suffer from buyers' remorse, how badly you inflict same on your near-and-dears, and how long that list is of things you cannot do on your current system and that are waiting until the time when you get a new system. If the list is sufficiently long, then it's probably best to bite the bullet, buy now, and just stick your fingers in your ears and hum when/if the next-best is finally released (and stay away from forum-grazing, too).

if sager says they can't put the 9800m gtx in a 15.4 inch then i won't trust any company that has it in one. don't want an AW type system that overheats.
If they can put the 9800m GT or the 9800m GTS in a 15.4 inch ill get that or another company's version but right now it looks like im gonna get the ASUS G50. (9700m gt in a 15.4 inch)

Are any of those cards better than the 8800M GTX for any reason? (9800m GT, 9800m GTS, or the 9700m?)
-
they all support hybrid sli and geforce boost. More specifically they can all switch between IGP and dedicated graphics and the IGP and dedicated can work simoultaneously for better graphics performance. Also, nvidia claims the mobile 9 series is a big improvement performance wise over the 8m series. And supposedly less heat less power consumption and smaller. -
also, all of the laptop that you buy with discreet GPU's will not have intigrate GPU's so the feature to run both IGB and discreet is pretty much non existant. -

what laptops use an nvidia chipset?
-
Basically, get the 8800 for now. If a more powerful card is supported later on, yay for you, upgrade to it. The power of the Clevo.
-
Wth is geforce boost anyway?
-
-
Uh, i wouldnt call it a mistake if they arent supporting the 9800GTX...Because then ur other options arent as powerful...unless we get a nice surprise at the launch. Not to mention you wont see the benefit of the hybrid SLI.

It probably means synthetic benchmarking, which doesn't really translate into real life performance.
-
a lot of people on these forums think the 9800m GTS and 9800m GT will both be more powerful than the 8800m GTX. Some think the 9700m GT is the 8800m GTX. And we wil see the benefit of hybrid SLI (power saving switching to IGP when needed). Won't see the benefit of geforce boost most likely.

Hybrid switching requires the nVIDIA chipset...it will not work with the Intel PM/GM45 chipset.
-
I think that nobody who buys the 8800GTX will think they are an idiot that made a mistake when its all said and done.
EDIT: At least on the m860...cause most of the BIG benefits arent seen on it regardless (Hybrid switch) -

@Driedal 9700 is 8800 GTX? Hahaa you are joking right? The spec page for the 9700 is down now but it was pretty sad. It had like 32 SP's... again maybe these SP's are 'super SP's' that are 2x faster but I doubt they are significantly faster. Even the 9800m GTS is unlikely to be faster than the 8800m GTX.
-
I remember looking at the 9700m gt page that nVidia accidentally put up but I don't remember the specifics. -

Don't forget that you can always edit your post

so with the confirm that the 860 will not use the 9800.. the 570tu..
