As usual, the first hand news from Taiwan. Thanks) I've almost forgot this latop... It's bad that they did only minor improvement to its design. Doesn't seem like an M18x killer, but who knows. Only time will tell)

If that's what they look like after a bit of wear, I'm not surprised.

Damn it.... They stuck with that crappy glossy finish? I hate it... Performance seems great, equal/better to that of the M18x..

Are you sure it has a glossy finish? It looks like most of it is from the plastic sheet covering.

Damn, that does indeed look like the X8100, right down to the positioning of the USB3.0 ports added in the second variant around the time 5870ms were released.

Main sign it's a different model/mobo is they've done away with the HDMI input slot as far as I can see.

That likely means we're stuck with the gloss, behind plastic/glass screen effort, rather than some of the really nice matte screens that are going into the other models :(
Still not a fan of the chiclet keyboards either.

Why is Clevo wanting to get rid of the HDMI-input port from their earlier X7200 and X8100 models? Also shame that the Expresscard port is dying out as well. :(

An ExpressCard slot was just recently added to the X7200. :)

Never cared for the x8100....all that keyboard space used for 4 lousy programmable keys and the same craptastic Clevo numpad.

Might just be me, but I can clearly see HDMI-out in pictures 2 and 3, unless you meant something different?

Also, I'm sure they can throw in a Matte screen for this. When the X7200 launched, it had only glossy screens. Now it has a Matte-type option.

I don't like the look of that keyboard either; especially the way the numpad is. I prefer my D900F's style. I think the P151HM1/P150HM/P170HM use the same kind as my D900F too right? (I don't know the name for it).

The X8100 had both HDMI In AND Out.
That P180 seems to only have a HDMI output :) This was what I was referencing.

Also, as I understand the X7200 has a 'direct screen', the X8100's is mounted under a glossy plastic/glass panel, which as far as I can see from the pictures hasn't changed. So sure they could stick a better screen in it, but you're still lumbered with the extra panel of glossy material.

    @Phinagle
I don't mind the numberpad, but I kind agree with you on the gamekeys. I mean I've never had any problems with mine, they work and macro fine, but I don't use them very often. My main gripe has always been the lack of a standard keyboard rather than Chiclet however, but then I can't get away from that as it's likely for depth reasons.

Well, forgive my noobiness, but what would be the purpose of HDMI in? I don't see many uses for it honestly.

I think its so you can input video from other devices to play them on the screen or record them in 1080p

The biggest benefit is that your laptop effectively becomes a portable display. The most common useage is for using it as a way to input game consoles/TV signal.

It does sound funny until we get to the realm of console exclusives that would never come to PC, except for emulation which may nor may never come, at least not for a long time, especially with the current 360/PS3. :)

    HDMI-In certainly isn't a useless feature.

Wait till you become an expat that has to live overseas in a small rented room and got no space for another monitor since your laptop and PS 3 already taken half of your desk .

Then maybe HDMI-in might makes sense for you :)

Same stupid keyboard too. Come ON! 17" and 18" should at least share a different, larger keyboard, instead of using the same one for 15" machines.
