    Hi guys (1º post :D )

so i´m going to buy a new laptop from clevo. But i have some questions
    and those are:

1º I buy a laptop with 3 hdd spaces, but i order it with only 1HDD. The spaces com ready to put an hdd there right??

    2º Sager NP8180 has 4 SODIMMS??? or only 2?

3º With Sager NP8180, if i order with dual gtx560m, can i upgrade to dual gtx580? and 6990?

4º from intel core i7-2630qm to i7-2670qm, is there any signnificant improvement??(I work with cad, and video editing, and play a lot)

5º im from europe, witch reseller do you recommend??

6º Does the special termal compound , give me any benefit

7º I have windows 7 home premium, so im not going to order windows, do i receive the drive disk???

8º I´m going to buy the laptop in April. Is there any upgrade in hardware until then??(chassis or gpu/cpu)

thanks in advance, im sorry for being so many question

Hi Crassus96, welcome and congrats on your first post!

    1. With Sager comptuers all HDD brackets are going to be installed regardless if you order it with a hard drive or not

    2. It actually has 3 SODIMM

    3. You can put 6990M in there in the future. They are hard to find individually and if you can, they can be expensive too, so with the low upgrade price for the 6990M i'd order it that way to begin with.

    4. The 2670QM is 200-300mhz faster then the 2630QM. It's Intel's refresh to that CPU. That speed increase you'd really never see a difference in daily use. Where you would see it is if you were doing a CAD or video editing project that might take a while (1hr) to complete, that faster speed will shed a little time off of that.

    5. I think the census on the board on who to use is to contact each reseller you're interested in and take it from there :)

    6. Better thermal compound will help lower temps. Underload you get 2-5C lower. With notebooks there's not alot you can do to help temps. Better thermal compound is one of those so its nice to have it.

    7. Most resellers will provide you with a drivers/utilities disc regardless if you order an OS or not. They are also available online to download.

    8. April is going to be really close to the Ivy Bridge release. Alot of people are thinking March/April for them to come out but we'll never be sure until they are actually release. Once they are released Sager is expected to refresh their line to include these.

    Hi Crassus96...(you're french don't you?!?)

I could not answer all your questions but, for the

1; Not sure it's "ready" to install (maybe 1(or2) caddy is needed)
2; I think that you have 4 slot for RAM...it means 4x2Gigas for example...
3; It's a bit complicated this part. There's peaple that say that is possible easily (without changing cooling system) but in any case you have to change the bios drivers. Lot's of persons who are not enthousiast think that is too much complicated to do. I think that theoricaly, it's possible. But is it cheaper? could you find these card with the next gen coming? It's something you should think of as well.
4;There's always an improvment when you're using CPU applications...but it's about 10% max with just CPU charge. Will you feel a difference? Hard to say...I think that the price difference is not so big between them, but depends of your budget.
5; The cheapest i ve seen was in Germany: Nexoc or Deviltech
6; If you choose a end graphic card, then yes, you should save around 10°C with your GPU in charge (the CPU as well use it).
7; Depend if you ask it. In the configurator, you have to select it on most of them.
8; Yes in April, normaly, there will be some new stuff...but new stuff means as well new release price so...is it better to buy the best of the last gen at the cheapest moment, or buy the new one at the released price...?i would say depends of your budget as well. But i suppose system we have today would stay in store until the next end graphic card gen...so you have time. I m not sure of that but i think the mid range Nvidia should come out near april (6xx series rebadge 5xx...)

I let the others correct me if needed and complete what miss.

PS: Welcome here! and happy new year!

Everything I hear about Ivy Bridge is that is not a big performance increase, just battery and maybe some heat. It is a larger improvement for systems without dedicated GFX cards.

You can install 1600mhz later if you want, when you purchase it make sure its JEDEC to ensure compatibility.

When Ivy Bridge comes out i bet benchmarks will show it is much better. When Sandy Bridge did we were seeing 20-25% increase in benchmark numbers but in real life computer use, there wasnt much if any increase in performance over the first gen chips.

As Garandhero mentioned though the extended battery life is going to be something everyone will see.
