That's not a SIM card slot, that's for SD cards and things like that :)

That is definitely a SD card reader. Sim card isn't even a network card anyway.

What youre looking for is Pantech UML290 4G USB which will give your laptop 4g through usb.

For the power brick, its ok to use the 8130 as long as youre not using the laptop.

For that there is no problem. The problem occurs when you are using your 8150 with a card above the 560m GTX with the 120W power supply during tasks.

The NP8150 does have a sim card slot for 3g/4g but you need a 3g/4g mini pci-e card to make it work. you can see it on page 22 of the service manual (in my sig)

At this time this slot is not active in the NP8150 the factory has said. You could always use a USB version of a 4G or 3G. :)

    Hey

Yea that slot is active, we've tested that slot ourselves, it absolutely works. In fact there are also posts in the owners lounge of people who've put a 3g card in there and had it work. So yea it works great.

It's actually a 180w power supply on the 8150. (an even worse proposition for a 120w charger)

Those chargers may fit, but they won't work to run the machine when you need the GPU/CPU at full speed. Best case scenario is that a <180w power supply will charge the battery, albeit slowly.

Can anyone recommend a US carrier that issues USIM cards? I put my SIM card from my galaxy s in and tried to turn on the port for 3g service. No dice. My guess is that it was incompatible.

Sorry for bumping this old thread. I just noticed the connector.

What would I need to be able to get 3G running?

A mini pcie 3g card?? A little confused here.

The EASIEST way to get 3G/4G running is to grab a USB adapter, like the one above. Otherwise you gotta do some fiddling.
