over the past 2 weeks, i have been noticing that my cpu temp has been idling at 62 to 63 degrees cel

the cpu performance monitor over at the task manager does not show any processing taking up even 1 or 2 percent of the cpu ...

so today i ran cpuz and noticed the following ... why is it that i am not running anything in my laptop but my cpu speed is 2.7 gigahertz ?

at times it will be 2.9 gigahertz ?

I am using a i7 2.7gig cpu on a D900F and running nothing at all at the desktop or background

a few months back I ran cpuz and noticed that the speed was actually supporsed to be around 1.7 Gigahertz ... idling speed

why am i not running anything at all ... and now the speed is idling at 2.7 to 2.9 ?

    :(

Well you said it's 2.7ghz, so of course it runs at 2.7ghz...
did you try cleaning the air vent and check to see if you need new thermal paste?

edit: what exact cpu are you using?

no ... originally when i ran cpuz ... it is able to downtrottle itself to 1.7 to 1.6 gigahertz ... now it is fixated at 2.7 to 2.9 ...

ok now i went into the bios to disable the turbo boost ... and now it is idling at 2.66 gigahertz ...

but this should not be ...

in the past it always idle over at 1.6 to 1.7 gigahertz ... and thats how i can maintain a temp of about 51 to 52 deg c ...

i strongly believe that something is not right here ...

can someone please give some suggestions ?

    ok i solved it ...

it set the power options to high performance ...

it should be set to balanced

now my cpu underclocks to 1.6 to 1.7 and temps idle at low 50s deg c

    :p

I never understand why people put it in high perfomance, save yourself some leccy and use balanced, plus there is zero performance loss when you need it, congrats on solving
