So I'm pretty much set on buying my clevo notebook this year, and I'd like to get any last opinions/thoughts before the purchase. I'd like to get as much life out of this as possible, as it will be my main computer for the next few years.

    From RJ Tech:

Clevo M570U Notebook Computer, 17" LCD

    Display: 17 WXGA
    Video Card: nVidia 7800 256MB
    CPU: T7200
    DDR2 Memory: 1GB DDR2/667 - 2
    Memory Brand: Kingston
    HDD: 80GB SATA 7200rpm
    CD: DVD/CDRW
    2nd HD: None
    RAID: Disable
    External FDD: None
    Battery: 8-Cell Li-Ion Battery
    Network Adapter: Integrated GBLAN
    WLAN: Intel 3945ABG
OS: Windows XP MCE w/Vista Coupon
    Software: None
    Carry Bag: Included
    TV Tuner: None
    Warranty: 1 Year
    LCD Protection: None
    Installation: Install
    Ship Schedule: Regular
    Total: $1,919.00

Anything missing? Does this look like a setup that will last for a few years? Also is it worth getting the extended warranty with the LCD protection? I'm trying to keep the price low but if there's anything that I should upgrade I'll deffinitely consider it. Thanks a ton!

That looks like a pretty sweet system for under $2000.

Nice, no need for the "LCD protection" warranty.

However, heres a better spec-out for that system:

Display: 17 WXGA (1440x900) ..... can upgrade to WUXGA (1920x1200)
Video Card: nVidia 7950 GTX 512MB
    CPU: Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00ghz)
    DDR2 Memory: 1GB DDR2/667 - 1 slot ...up to 4 gigs
    Memory Brand: Major
    HDD: 80GB SATA 7200rpm
    CD: DVD/CDRW
    2nd HD: None
    RAID: Disable
    External FDD: None
    Battery: 8-Cell Li-Ion Battery
    Network Adapter: Integrated GBLAN
    WLAN: Intel 3945ABG
OS: Windows XP MCE w/Vista Coupon
    Software: None
    Carry Bag: Included
    TV Tuner: None
    Warranty: 1 Year
    LCD Protection: None
    Installation: Install
    Ship Schedule: Regular

    :D Total: $2059

its got the latest videocard (7950 GTX w/ 512mb DDR3). and you want 1 RAM slot open for future upgrades, so get a single stick of 1024mb DDR2

This is the Clevo M570U specs, it unlocks all LCD and videocard options... for a small fee difference (from the Clevo M570U-A) of $50... sweeet.

Thanks a ton Gophn! Just out of curiosity, does the 9750 video card make a difference in heat versus the 7800?

The Go7950GTX has the same TDP of 45W as the Go7800GTX, so the heat will probably be the same. Definitely go for the machine Gophn suggested.

The 7900 series actually consumes less power than the 7800 series. The 7900 series will have slightly less heat as well.

i think it's pretty dumb to not get at least a wsxga resolution screen for 17inch laptops

    /opinion

there are also other places that can price match rjtech's deal, check the reseller sticky in this section (flawless computers is one of them), rjtech uses a porr 3rd party warranty program if you decide to get the extended warranty (a 3 year warranty from flawless is $100, which is cheaper than most)

The Clevo M570U that i linked to him has all screen options available...
    - WXGA+ (1440x900)
    - WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
    - WUXGA (1920x1200)

Would it be smarter going with another type? I was told that the WXGA is a little better for gaming. I just dont want to kill my eyes with really small text.

rjtech, right? then you'd increase the price by $200+ if you went wsxga, when you do that, some of the other resellers have similiar pricing deals (that way you don't have to haggle for price matching)

you really should go check 17 inch screens in person at a computer store
