    Hi all !
I have made so funny comparison for the sound system of the Clevo P150 Sm that i own.
i have been quitly disapointed by the sound system, wich is loud, but not very good.

I have compared the subwoofer of my clevo, versus the one from my old MSI GT60 , whith Dynaudio speaker( probably the best i have seen on notebook) .
    It left me speechless :chatterbox:

then i compared the clevo subwoofer with the speakers of the MSI :

Actually, i'm not even mad , the clevo is making a quite good job considering how small the "subwoofer" is ! ,

but the thing that actually bother me is that they have some space to double the size of it ( it seems that older version do have a larger subwoofer)....money,money,money ^^

    Hope you enjoyed ! :D

Just because the space is there doesn't mean it's effective to use a larger one in that space. MSI's cooling system is different than Clevos if I remember correctly, which means that they may be able to use the space for the subwoofer/etc in a different way. Sometimes the empty space you see in a laptop after opening the back is necessary to keep it all cool. Or in a desktop too; can't bunch everything all up together now =3

Well, Onkyo certainly can't compete with Dynaudio. But I'm interested how MSI's Dynaudio holds up to Alienware's Klipsch.

surprisingly well. I have had both but the Klipsch definitely has a richer sound.

The klipsche in my 14 are very good, but TBH being a non audiophile and taking into consideration these are laptop speaker systems the Onkyos are very comparable with sounblaster settings configured.

Yeah ,but they had room for the P150Hm, and ...boom...the sub lots a half of it's length, even if their are still the same place ( the mounting hole are still there : ):

Open space in a laptop isn't necessarily required. That space is needed for the heatsinks, heatpipes, fans etc. Ideally it is a closed system and doesn't rely on the air around it in the case for cooling but on the system itself. If there's open space, it can be utilized (to a point).

Most of the passives are fine without airflow. The fans are sealed from that compartment anyway often so IMO they would do better with larger chambers and cones.

Eg the 7.1 speakers on the 9570 would be far better off with a 4.1 with larger ones since the included ones are pretty pathetic and a good 2.1 setup beats them.

Whether 2.1, 4.1, or 7.1, the speakers on any laptop are limited by design. We can only expect so much of the acoustics from them.

Kudos to Elipsus for taking the time to post this!

Well, unless you want to add another $500-$1000 for the miniature Bose speakers that they have copyrighted the 3D sound of, I don't think we'll get much better speakers in laptops anytime soon.

Personally, for me, as long as the speakers are loud, don't distort sound, and I can clearly hear the trebles and bases, even if they're not significant, I believe for laptop speakers they are 'a win'.

Some are better, some are worse, but come on, we're talking laptop speakers. Not living room accoustic 7.1 speakers.

Yes but there is still a gap from what can be expected from a cone of the size they use and what is possible to produce. No one expects 1200w shake the house bass.

^well even if they could miniaturize that I think the sheer force from resonance would literally shake the laptop apart
