ive got a. year or so old np5165. put it in hibernation last night like usual, opened it back up today to turn on and it just sits at the stuck on hibernation screen.

pressing power button puts it back in hibernation, then comes back up again when powered back up. tried holding the power button dor 2+ minutes, same thing. no buttons nor battery removal do anything.

    any ideas?

think you will need to hunt down the cmos battery and remove it for 10 seconds.

try first, remove battery and mains and hold power button down for 20 seconds. plug in mains and turn on.
if that doesnt work then you will have to remove the base plate and find the cmos. no idea where it is on your model.

personal choice but first thing i do when i get a new machine is remove the 2.2gb hibernation file. had major problems with hibernation on alienware lappy and have never used it since. removed it the day i got my clevo and will be removing it as soon as i get my new one in a couple of weeks.
