I'm under the impression the P775TM1 is already running the latest gear, so why would a successor be needed?

Yes, but the case, the keyboard and the heat sink have always been the same for many years .. I think it's the only laptop to still have a 3-zone and non-RGB color keyboard. I was hoping for a substantial update of its top of the range

It is due for redesigned chassis but any refreshed model will not be announced until after the new desktop chipsets are released by Intel.

That would be great if they did! I would even be happy if they just started producing MXM AMD graphics cards again.

Manufacturers get better pricing from NVIDIA if they agree to be a NVIDIA Partner, and use them exclusively. So it'll be tough to get them to start making AMD solutions. Tho, considering the momentum AMD is getting, and the subsequent price gouging NVIDIA is doing, they should consider it.

Hey @jaybee83 nice see you. How's your 775DM doing? Mine died last month and got a new 775TM1. Still remember we are the very first customers to receive P775 series.

MXM AMD cards might appear next year if AMD can produce high end card with low power requirements. I think they can do it. Look at the 5700XT. Which is slightly below GTX 2070S in performance but consume less power.

Intel get funny about everything these days. I'd love to see AMD powered Clevo system. Ryzen 3700x is not the best gaming cpu but overall it's far better than intel in everything else.

Look at recent Intel 10nm mobile chip benchmarks. They beat AMD 3700U by around 10-15% but 300U is actually based on last year's Zen+ core. Once Zen2 based 4000 series mobile chips hit the market by end of this year, AMD will close the performance gap and most likely best them in graphic performance.
