hey guys i really feel bad for starting a thread for such a simple problem. i would pm someone, but who? neways

my question is simple. im gonna get the np5796 with 128gb ocz ssd core hard drive in late august when then 9800m gtx comes out, and was wondering if, sooner or later, i can swap that drive out for a 256gb ssd or bigger (im talkin like a few years from now)?

was originally gettin the np9262 but... well i don't know which i'm gettin it's still up in the air. the 9262 is 300 bucks more expensive with similar config (besides the quad processor), but i figure since i'll never upgrade to sli cards or get two ssds in raid0(cause that puts me over the budget), i really wouldn't need that kind of power. but who knows, maybe i'll get an early christmas present that'll boost me towards it. we'll see.

but yea back to my ssd question... any answers?

I would say its fairly safe to assume that you will be able to upgrade your SSD to a larger one at some point. Or even through in a standard HD for extra storage space.

thats quite a budget you have there btw ;) share the love with me hehe

You know Walidism, another option you might want to consider is getting standard hard drives in Raid 0. When you have the money later it's very easy to swap in the new drives. It's absolutley no different than swaping any other drive and with SSD's you don't have to worry about drive failures so the Raid 0 is a quite attractive option.

I got my M9750 with two 100Gig drives in Raid 0 then replaced the mechanism spinning platter drive with two OCZ SSD's and couldn't be happier.

Lighter, faster, shortened boot times, reduced heat inside, and less power consumption.

Ignore those that tell you about the limited number of write cycles as this has not come to pass. Instead listen to those who actually have them and have observed their reliable and rock steady use for years in military laptops like I have. :)
