hey guys.
just recieved a np5320 from powernotebooks.com, and its real nice (no dead pixels). Ron guided me through everything, and hes a great, helpful guy.
i ordered the 5320 with a 40gb ATA hd, with the intent to switch it out with a 100gb SATA that i already have, and use it with the HDD bracket that i also purchased. Ron said it was possible, so i went ahead with it. i recieved the laptop today and opened the beast up, but could not find a SATA connection. i have a model A (different arrangement of components), according to the manual, and its pictured with only the ATA connector--though the manual also says models A and B (like the one in chaz's review) can accommodate 2.5" SATAs. so my question is, am i missing the hidden SATA connection?
i emailed Ron back about this, though i got antsy and decided to sign up and post here.
heres the emails he sent me:

Well, this is an older thread. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate a fix for your problem, and it doesn't look like anyone else did either...
May I ask how you solved it? -
ah, yes. turns out, 'model A' and 'model B' are the 5320 and 5720. i didnt look at the pics in the review carefully, and it turns out that i do have the same 5320.
so what happened was the 5320 shipped with a removable connector for the hd, either pata or sata--i got the pata. powernotebooks.com put up the sata connector for 25$, so i ended up buying that. heres the link: http://powernotebooks.com/category.php?catId=91 -
yeah. the 5320 has only one sata connection - which is the main hdd - so if you want to use the hdd bracket, you got to use a pata hdd. and i did not know abt the converter. i thought that you would need a converter to use a pata drive instead of sata. seems like the other way round.
much better to get the sata drive from them for only additional 15$ for anyone getting a new notebook. -

Thanks for the informartion kingpin and sugazo.
Very useful information.
Yes, I agree - definitely go for the SATA. $15 means nothing when you're talking about spending $1,000 or so.
Cheers.
