hello all!
I have recently purchased the sager np9170.
I love the build of this laptop.
unfortunately though, i am probably going to return it. the trackpad is just too unbearable. it is placed toward the center of the device, so when i type, the cursor moves everywhere.
the left and right buttons are rudely broken apart by an obnoxious finger print reader, which has resulted in my right thumb being sore.
the actual touchpad is too rough, and prevents me from using two finger scrolling while im on the internet.
I know this thing looks great and has great specs....but honestly, how did they blow this? i really don't want to return it, but i feel like i have no choice.
very sad day.![]()
anybody else have this problem??

You do know you can turn off the trackpad, right? I don't feel the pad is that rough and the finger print reader hasn't given me any trouble. Then again, we all have different preferences and I don't use the trackpad that much. When I do, it works just fine for me.

Well, in general, you are going to get problem with most laptop. I had same issues with my Asus, and Alienware as well. The alienware was nicer, than the Asus, but still annoying as hell. Basically, it's your palm resting on the touchpad while typing, causing the pointer to move all over the place. The only laptop that I don't experience this problem with is my work notebook, and it's a Lenovo. Probably the best keyboard and touchpad I've used to date (though I heard the best is the Mac).
Anyway, my workaround has always been to use to mouse instead, and disable the touchpad. With the sager, hit Fn + F1 and it will disable the touchpad. If you do insist on using the touchpad, all I can say is good luck to you and hope you find a laptop that does not give you the problem.
By the way, I'm curious, is there a setting to adjust the pressure on the touchpad???? Maybe that will help with the annoying issue. -
Old thread, but in case anyone else comes across it....
With the touch pad drivers there is an option under mouse > touchpad > settings > pointing > that has an option for sensitivity. Between that and the palm guard one can tweak the palming mishaps
the dreaded sager touchpad
