Will the new penryn processors as the T9300 with 6mb cache @ 2.5 ghz fit in the m570ru when they are launched november 12th?

Would be awesome: I think the extra cache will be benefitial to almost everything :)
    However, I doubt it'll fit without another MBupdate/upgrade :(

Man, I saw the Penryn benchmark which was CRAZY!!!!

    Sure, it's using lower voltage.
But circuitry design may be different, that is why it needs revision.
Maybe the change isn't much at all. However, the manufacturer wants to make money so they would still make a new revision with BIOS support anyway.

From what I can make up out of all the articles about the santa rosa refresh:

    - same socket
    - same chipset
    - etc.

I wonder if clevo wants to do a MB upgrade for the penryn. But as with many things I guess we'll have to wait and see what clevo will do. But I don't see any reason why the M570RU cannot be updated to penryn.

EDIT: masterbw has a point too. But perhaps a BIOS upgrade alone can be sufficient.

yup, still a long wait anyway. 4 to 6 months from now.
i would suggest Clevo/Compal owners to try writing emails to Clevo/Compal for the BIOS upgrade.
if hardware design is not a problem, then just the BIOS is needed.

    From that article of dailytech.
Intel's next mobile platform overhaul will not arrive until Q2』2008. The next-generation Montevina platform introduces the new Cantiga PM and GM chipsets, based on Intel's Bearlake-family. Cantiga pairs with a new ICH9M south bridge. Montevina also introduces new Echo Peak and Shirley Peak wireless 802.11a, 802.11g and 802.11n adapters. A new Boazman Gigabit Ethernet controller and Intel Turbo Memory 2.0 top the list of Montevina features.

As noted, the current Santa Rosa platform will be compatible with the new Penryn processors but a BIOS upgrade will be necessary. I am sure that Sager/Clevo have been testing the new CPUs.
    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3964

There are going to be 5 new Penryn CPUs for the Santa Rosa refresh in total.

i'd sure like to have one of them 6mb cached ones ;) it's a great benefit.
    an other thing:
how far can you go with an 8700 and lets say 4gyg ram + T7500 in games as crysis?

is the new soldier of fortune dx10 btw?
