I've been a lenovo/thinkpad person for awhile. They've been reliable, community is huge and I've only had to call support once and they've been very good. I fix almost everything myself, including motherboard upgrade etc.

I'm wondering how their driver support is for windows 7 and linux, are they reliable and is there is big community following similar to thinkpads.

    Thanks

The Sager community is limited but what does exist is great. Since Sager isnt a main stream brand you wont find everywhere like Lenovo but just take a look here and you'll find lots of good people.
Techsupport is really provided by your reseller so pick a good one there and you'll be set. If you buy from Sager directly you'll be limited to 9-5 while some resellers include 24/7. Drivers support for Windows is great, havent heard any issues Sager related, just the AMD ones that have been being worked on by them. Linux is going to be a tougher one, for the most part they're great except some people do have problems with the switchable graphics (Optimus/Enduro)

Would this mean that the P370EM, with GTX670MX in SLI for instance, wouldn't cause issues with Linux? This may actually be a deciding factor for me personally.

That is correct as there is not switchable graphics on that model. I cant say 100% for sure as we dont support Linux but it should be fine. Maybe a Linux user can chime in with their experience.

Works great, we do install Linux on this model, and the only issue is the keyboard will be blue as there is no hotkey driver that works in Linux, but besides that everything works as expected. We have a bunch of these running around as linux workstations.

670mx SLI would be a bit pointless however.

Maybe not with some tweaking, the memory and core will both have a lot to give.

But you might as well get a single 680m or 7970m.

That's why I say the core has a lot in it, I think it will still pull ahead of the single 680M when tweaked.

I agree, get a single 680M, don't bother with the SLI.

Yes it might pull ahead however typically SLi driver updates take longer than regular cards. Example: Far Cry 3 comes out. They optimize a single card before SLi.

Oh all the usual pitfalls of SLi would still apply, but it's not a totally silly option.

As Hutsady said, its pretty helpful around here. I've learned a lot in the last month or so of reading since I decided my next would be a Clevo.

I'm in the brink of purchasing myself and Linux support is a big deciding factor for me as well. Since I tend to hold in to my laptops for 3 years or so, I've pretty much narrowed it down to a P370EM with either a single 7970M or 680M. If anyone has used... say Ubuntu, on either of these configs please chime in. Would be greatly appreciated.

    Jedisurfer,

Beware. I ordered my first Sager laptop back in September. Since day 1, I have been having nothing but problems. My NP9170 came in with a defective monitor. At first it wasn't a big deal. After sending it in for RMA, they replaced the screen with another defective screen and sent it back to me in unusable condition (I thought they were supposed to make sure everything is working BEFORE sending it back? I guess not). It is now almost Christmas and I finally got my laptop in working condition for the first time last week. When I tried calling up to get the 3 months that i lost added onto my warranty, they refused to help me out (keep in mind they had my laptop longer than I have). It is completely ridiculous and unfair to be treated this way especially as a first time customer. They left me feeling scammed and cheated. I won't be doing business with them again.

Edited: I forgot to mention that I used XoticPC as the reseller.
