im very paranoid...so if i pay cash what happens if i dont recieve the laptop
hopefully that wont happen and ive looked at the resellersrating but just wondering for security measures since i dont want to use credit card
PS: My first post![]()

Welcome to the NBR forums.
XoticPC is one of the most reputable vendors that we have seen.
If you pay with credit, then thats insured.
We went over these kinds of thread countless times:
- http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=277493
...etc...
Just contact them, they will answer any questions or concerns you have. -
You are too paranoid... ridiculously so, lol. I can guarantee that you won't have any problems with xoticpc... or powernotebooks, for that matter.
-
Yeah, if people weren't receiving what they ordered this community would be the first to know about.
Xoticpc is the most mentioned source for sager and other small name/high quality laptops. You would have no problems with them, take my word for it.
edit: Paying credit over the internet is pretty damn secure these days. But it's your money and your choice. -
yeah ive ordered with credit cards online...but my apr is pretty high so im thinking about just paying cash and just get it over with but wasnt sure if it was safe paying with cash
edit: also for gaming i was thinking about just sticking to stick with 2gb ram...but if i upgrade to 4gb would there be a lot of increase of performance? also am going to be playing recent games ex COD4 GRID etc. -
They've been in business for quite a while, paying with cash would also get you the 3% cash discount.
-
Use a paypal E check then, if something happens you can dispute it through them and you still get the cash discount price.

^^^^ What he said.

so is 2gb ram enough for gaming...not planning on havimg many processes running...
-
2GB is definitely enough.
I have had 2GB for about 2.5 years now.. no issues. -
-
i was thinking about sticking with xp...dont really like vista...but vista has dx10 so not sure yet...any ways thanks for the help guys!!!

Vista 64. FTW!
-
Steven,
Your 8660 must have cost u an arm & a leg.
G! -
ahhh...can't wait for first set f reviews for the 8660 long wait
-
well.. i was just as afraid to just wire money over, and a large sum at that. but check out the forums here, resellersrating, and also xotic's webbie for yourself and you'll know they're credible. my lappy came in on time and working out of the box..
as long as you follow the right instructions and don't wire your money to the wrong bank account, then it would be okay -
That is probably the best advice I've seen on wiring funds! -
XoticPC for sure, i did a wire transfer for 3.5k, so i know where your coming from.
I recommend not having a single doubt about getting your system -
yeah i think that's the most scary, apart from a scam company.. but hey, as long as you get yr money to XoticPC's account, sure they'll send you a beautiful lappy
as i said before, many threads/sigs here to testify for them (and PNB alike).. so just check the other threads

sigh...my budget is 1900 without shipping...so now im wondering if it would be better to get the 35watt 9400 or the 25 watt 9500... i was thhinking about getting a cooler instead of the 9500 but im not sure yet because with the 9400 i can get it to 1844 and just barely have enough for the zalman nc2000...what to you guys think i should get?
-
If you are going to get a notebook cooler, either choice should be fine.
-
Hi Shadman,
I am guessing between T9400 (35W) and P9500 (25W) ... you will not see much of Temp difference ... I strongly believe that your HEAT problem will be coming from your Graphic Card when is under load.
So, if your budget is that tight that a $35 CPU price difference will mess up your deal ... I guess go with 9400.
If you are NOT planning to lug around your "Cooler" back & forth then for now you can go to Wal-Mart or soem store like that and buy a cheapy 6" Portable Fan for about $7 ... and believe that is much more efficient than any other cooler ... raise your lappy by 1/2" ... piece of door trim or any kind of smooth wood and you are done ... now it ain't the coolest looking set up ... but it will get you through until you save up the $75 or so to get you a nice Zalman.
G! -
yes...well i will be gaming A LOT lol...so im guessing i should go with the 9400 and get the nc2000...ps my budget was 1500 so im kind of going over so trying to save as much money as possible
-
what are your specs so far?
we can help save you more cash if we see it. -
15.4" WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
~Intel® T9400 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.53GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt
2,048MB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Channel Memory
250GB 5400RPM (Serial-ATA 150)
only things i can change everything else is stock and cant go lower
lol so basically the processor and the hard drive because memory and screen already at lowest spec -
I feel like I'm over-paying for my laptop...
$2454 for
P9500
WUXGA+ <3<3
ATI HD3870
2GB ram
7k320gb HDD
Standard DVD-+RW
Spare 8-cell
3 year warranty
I'm guessing the bulk of it comes from warranty, $3xx, and the rest from spare battery $1xx and overnight shipping.
Do I need 3 years?? -
Those specs seem fine... especially if you want bang for the buck with a tight budget. -
KillerNotebooks Notebook Consultant
Never mind, what I said made no sense.
-
yeah thats with cash discount
also: what is the difference between t series and p series processor??
is one better than the other??
or should i just bump up to the p9500? so basically is it worth the money to go from
35 watt to 25 watt for $30 -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
The lower wattage will provide a little less heat and a little more battery power. (not significant) It's only $30.
-
yes but i have already exceeded my budget lol but still need a notebook cooler...ive been thinking about the nc2000 but would the 1000 be better???
-
If you think about it this way, getting the P9500 means you may not have to get a notebook cooler.
Unless you're adamant about it. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
For a 17" notebook the NC2000 would be the best choice. For a 15.4" or smaller the NC1000 is recommended. If your budget is pushed to its limits, I would keep the 35Watt then and use the funds toward the cooler. (the cooler will be a better use of the funds
)
-
ok, thanks about the cooler i think the fan for the 8660 is towards the back...so would the nc1000 still conver that or is it better to just go with the nc2000?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
The NC1000 should cover it just fine.
-
ok thank you for your help
-
Is a notebook cooler absolutely necessary for the M860TU? It shouldn't overheat, considering the fact that most Sager notebooks maintain a reasonably cool temperature, according to reviews...
-
i will be gaming a lot, so its better to be on the safe side
-
The fans and vents should take care of the heat. This notebook should have an adequate cooling system. Why not wait for a review first?
-
Looks like you are about right ... but heck I am not a reseller ... price it out on the 2 recommended Resellers here ...
Q1: where are you getting it from? That is offering you a ATI HD3870 card?
If you are concerned with cost ...
Q2: Why an Extra battery right away?
Q3: Why Overnight shipping? Unless is free!!!
As far as warranty goes ... from reading this forum and all the old hands here they would suggest the 3 year warranty for 2 reasons ...
1) If you ever want to Resale.
2) Peace of mind for 3 years on big investment like $2500 ... you peace of mind costing probably about 10% ... but consider how much would cost you to replace a GPU or MOBO if stuff hits the fan.
G! -
1. That config is from Xotic. PNB works out to be about the same. I have a free upgrade to 9800M GT but I said HD3870 to illustrate the lower cost. Had the $2454 included the 9800M GT I might be okay with it.
2. Why the extra battery straight away? Because I'm not sure how easy/difficult, if at all, it will be to get a spare battery later. Although I'm thinking about scrapping it, I bought two batteries for my last laptop and have rarely needed both of them in one sitting.
3. Overnight shipping because I need the laptop quickly (nVision!!) and because I get 50% off as a student.
Also, is No dead pixel warranty worth it? I mean it only covers 30 days... And LCD technology is meant to be pretty good these days?
Oh plus I don't have an OS either. So, I can't believe how much the warranty costs... I actually have no idea how much replacing a motherboard would cost. And if three years down the line it blew, would Xotic actually replace it with something newer if that weren't available anymore? -
i was sure i was gonna get the 8660 but im thinking about the 5796...
if they r the same specs would there be a performance difference in gaming between the two screen sizes if they are both run at 1680 x 1050?? or does the screen size not matter??? -
also when do you guys think the silver trim will be available?
-
Screen size doesn't affect performance at the same resolution. Image quality may suffer.
Remember as fat as the M860TU may be, it will still have a much smaller footprint than the 5796; which is the main reason I'm sticking with it. -
yes but it will basically be a desktop replacement except when i travel
(barely ever) lol, and also im guessing it has better cooling than the 8660
but that hasnt come out yet so cant be positive about that -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Although there are not many left that came in, but the Silver Trim is presently in stock @ Sager. -
aahh....i have to order tomorrow do you think there will still be any left?
also i am not sure how to pay, i have a debit card, if i use that can i still get the cash discount ? -
About looking for spare parts. Eurocom sells spare components for their computer brands (a lot of Clevo's). They are in Canada, however.
http://web.eurocom.com/EC/ecu_GetModelsB()
Also, they are very nice people (from what I've experienced already), and they will get close to or match US prices from Sager/Xotic/NBP (etc.). Along with Sager and a couple others, they are one of the main distributers of Clevo computers. -
