I want to know your opinion on weather or not I should sell my np8170 and upgrade to the new np9170.

I really like the np9170 because it has usb 3.0 all around and of course the new chipset. However, I would also like something with an express card slot so I could use an E-gpu in the future. Is there anything like that from clevo with a 17 inch lcd and within the same general price range?

I haven't had much time for research lately, so help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't at the moment simply because the GPU is not much better than your current one (its a rebadged 580M) unless you can get a 7970M or wait until the 680M arrives.

Personally, I would only upgrade the GPU rather than sell the entire system.

What we currently have is reliable and tested hardware, the other laptop is still in its early stages. I guess I am left with more caution when thinking back to the SB fiasco (recall) and now hearing about the HD7970M issues (and how similar they sound to the 6970M).

In my opinion, USB 3.0 all around is not a good enough reason and the new Chipset concerning CPU speed won't make a major difference. I remember the previous chipset update granted us with quite a big boost in CPU performance.

Of course, this is simply my opinion :p

All I plan to update is my GPU and if i can't do that, then I will probably just leave it as it is because this laptop is perfect!

Only my lust for new tech is the imperfection here.
